So I was in a rush to get home, but sticking to the speed limits. This guy in front of me was doing 25 mph in a 40 zone. Road was clear the other side so i thought of overtaking and chose to. Then he honks his horn and speeds up to try and not let me pass. Follows me right up my arse until I turn off up another road.

Why didn't he just let me pass? I guess he didn't wanna be overtaken by a '99 Fiesta (he was driving an old Rover lol). If I was driving a top of the range sports car I bet he wouldn't have done it.

I'm never gonna overtake someone on a single lane road again.

Had the same thing on my old 125 bike, overtook some twat going slow, then he speeds up as soon as he sees me coming past, I struggle to overtake and he ends up trying to get on the pillion seat until I turn off.

No idea why people do it, gladly since I've passed my test and upgraded to a 600 no one has managed to stay in my rear-view mirrors long enough for me to find out if they're pissed off with my overtaking them :) prefer it this way too!

What you said though, they're just twats, nothing you can do, I wouldnt let it put you off overtaking where you clearly should though.

I had a transit van over take me in a 30 zone :) and i was in my 380 bhp evo :) noway i would of allowed that if i had petrol at the time :(

that guy doing 25 in a 40 is stupid imo.

If i were in ur shoes i maybe would of flashed and signal left hoping he/she would see it and pull over. If that didn't work there's no point risking your own life just because your in a hurry.

Although I think you done right.

Then again I dont normally have that problem if I'm behind someone. They usually move out the way when they see a Yellow EVO behind them.

Last week i had a dude doing 25 on the outside lane of a motorway he had 2 other lanes to choose from and peeps flashing and hooting didnt make him want to change lanes. Eventually everyone had to take over on the inside which caused a few near misses. It was quite dangerous and very irresponsible of the driver. Really wound me up too as its a pet hate of mine, lane discipline. Especially people staying in the middle lane or just going direct to it from the slip road making me take evasive action because the "dont like the inside lane."

moan moan whinge whinge ... etc etc

:(

i have fun with people like that... if someone sits up my arse when im doing(or above) the speed limit i accidently slip of the pedal and slow to a crawl. What makes it worse is i predimanently drive on whindy back roads where there only about 2 safe pass spots over a 8mile distance (only 1 safe spot if heading home)

Still, not as bad as someone else i know, they got it figured on exactly how much pressure to put on the break so that the break lights dont come on yet they slow down extremely quickly. He has put more then a few cars into a ditch by doing this when somone is on his arse. lol.

I agree, its wrong, but to be honest if the arsehole is following so close that he cant stop in time then doesnt it swing in roundabouts? what if the person infront did have to stop for a kid running into the road or something? The person following would have just as much trouble stopping then as well.

How can braking hard be worse than tailgating when its something the car in front may well need to do to avoid a hazard?

I think the main thing wrong with what the guy is doing is making it so his brakelights dont come on, other than that, if the idiot following wasnt so close in the first place there would be no need to highlight the fact that what they're doing is wrong.

Following so close that you cant stop in time is the fault of the person following, not the person in front. If they're going too slow, overtake, if you cant overtake then get close, but with enough distance so you can stop in time.

When I was on my 125 I'd tend to touch the brakes so my light came on and the person behind would sometimes get the hint and back off a bit - it was suprising how often they'd ignore it though.
