anyone been inside a nuclear plant?
weve got one at hartlepool which isnt far away.

they used to do group tours right through the whole place but they stopped it about 10 years ago i think.

was pretty interesting especially going through the reactor part, it was very HOT.

I've never visited one, but my brother works for BNFL and I used to argue with him all the time about, after numerous arguments and discussions it was clear that for the UK to have a stable and reliable carbon free power source Nuclear was the only viable option.

Yep, all my arguments end that way too. Even if i dislike the nuclear pants due to the devastation they can cause in the remote case of a plant failure, I must admit that at the time being, theres no other viable option to meet the EU energy needings of the 21st century...

It's time to take a serious look at alternatives to petrol. We should also look to make vehicles which are modular and with interchangable compatible parts, as opposed to our current bullshit car industry which generates new and different parts every time they design a new car. Talk about a con job.

Nope. I'd sooner get a guided tour of the MI6 building on Albert Embankment. That building's supposed to be impregnable. Bomb proof, bullet proof, completely unhackable, the works.

The reasoning that because the current nuclear facilities have escaped terrorism that building more doesn't increase the chances is slightly flawed..
I'm fairly sure if you only had 2 airports in the world you could eliminate most air terrorism as well. The more you get the less selective you can be about who has access etc and it's more likely that the wrong people will get into the right positions.
That said if terrorists actually want to kill people they will, and there's probably much easier ways for them to go about it, so I don't think it's a big enough argument to say don't do it

I actually vote we just nuke Wales to create a nice flat place to put our wind farm.. The nuclear winds generated from the fallout should provide extra power as well so it's win/win!

The problem at the moment is there's no real incentive. The time we get rid of burning fossil fules to produce our power won't be when the enviromentalists win, but when we simply run out of enough of it to actually fulfill our needs. If we wanted to go fusion we would probably do it in 5 years.. There's just not enough profit in it for that to actually happen. At the end of the day it comes down to money and nothing else..

Electric cars only make sense when the method of creating the electricity isn't just as bad as actually using a petrol engine..

Hydrogen is the way to go, as soon as someone can suss out the problems with handling liquid hydrogen.

Nuclear power is totaly unfeasible for powering cars, unless the cars are the size of an army battleship.

a full tank of diesel cost my dad near £80 at the local station. thats pretty steep considering diesel used to be less than petrol.

Any futured planned nuclear expansion will happen at existing sites therefore reducing the risk of "terrorists" attacks.
