We don't all drink piss-water like Fosters and Carling. :D

The only time I can spend £25 is if I go out for a few slurps in the afternoon.

Its very rare i go out now, but during my Uni era .. I would average about 40-45quid a night, which included takeaway (if we started at wetherspoons) ... going around my local town in Great Harwood, things can get silly and use 40 a night just through buying drinks as we usually start early. Might not seem alot, but at 2.50 a pint, i often feel very tipsy by 11 oclock :)

You got robbed plain and simple. I can do a very good night on £40 easily, on £60 it can be epic. Manchester is a still a pretty cheap place to go out though, even in the more expensive places £50 can still go a long way.

Jesus. £2.50 wouldn't even get you a flash of side-boob in London let alone a double Jager.

Well, you northerners need something to help you forget about the desolate shit-hole you reside in so I guess it makes sense on balance. :D

Oh dear, now that is trolling at it's worst. :p

From where I live I am 5 minutes from stunning views of the Pennines, surrounded by lovely parklands and canals, loads of nice pubs and places to eat all at rock bottom prices. Is it the bright lights of London? No. It isn't as exciting but alot friendlier and more readily available for normal working people. The same can't be said of London where the best places are well out of reach for most or become places you can afford to go for special occasions. Hell even Michelin stared places in the north are affordable on a semi-regular basis.

There are things I like about London but I wouldn't trade it for what I have here because I would have to work incredibly hard down there to have the lifestyle I can easily enjoy in the north. Like everything, pluses and minuses but also like everywhere there are good parts and right shitholes.

You my friend have issues if 8 pints is considered a few slurps. :p

2pm till 7pm?

I must admit, I do drink a lot when I go out. I must have had at least 12-13 pints on saturday and god knows how many Jack Daniels/Aftershocks/Jaggerbombs oh and a couple of pitchers of cocktails and our lass matched me drink for drink, so yeah, thats probably why I did spend so much

You make it sound like im George Best. If you are out for 5 hours, surely 8 pints is a reasonable amount?

1 pint = ~1 liter?

The rest of us work with the awesomeness of the metric system you know.

Slurps is an english term for a few pints

I figured as much, doesn't take away from the fact it sounds like something else :p

8 pints in 5 hours is roughly 1.4 centiliters / minute.

Half a shot / minute rounded up, for 5 hours straight.

You make it sound like half a shot worth of beer = Half a shot of liquor (in anything other than volume so stop being pedantic)....very misleading.

8 pints in 5 hours is by no means outrageous imo.

Not at all, i was just pointing out how much it is.

4 litres of beer in 5 hours is not much, but it's not just having a few either.

In a beer Garden 8 pints in 5 hours is a slow pace any slower and you risk warm flat beer.

It is alot to consume for the time of day, unless you are out for a proper session and not as you implied 'a few slurps'. ;)

I've stopped buying rounds for exactly this reason. Nights out aren't cheap anymore.

what i thought a few slurps is like a cheeky couple pints maybe

an 8 pint afternoon would have to be a prelude to into the evening drinking
