The more I read about it the more interested I am.

Though I am still trying to not get to excited by a new MMO due to them all being shit in recent years, I will be getting it on release :)

From what I've seen so far the different class of ship and their sub classes seem well thought out and relatively easy to balance.

Thumbs up so far.

It looks good - will be interesting to see how the twitch combat copes with lag but the 3 sides aspect should be good.

I wonder if they'll have any particular balance issues tho since the races seem pretty similar compared to a fantasy mmo?

It would be nice to play a game with 3 relatively equal sides for a change :)

With JG Classic the ships differed...

Quantar generally had very maneuverable fast ships with smaller weapons loadouts and average sheilds.

Solrain had average weapons, average speed/maneuverability and large sheilds.

Octavius had massive weapon load outs, in the majority of cases very poor speed/maneuverability, and average sheilds.

Of course there were the exceptions, but the above generally held true. One exception I can remember particularly was the Oct scout, was the fastest ship in the game, it only had one massive engine (as opposed to two) and was thus really slow to put the breaks on, the maneuverability was pretty shocking too.

Do you kit out the ship like in EVE? i.e. change weapon modules, shield modules, thrusters and so forth or do you buy a pre-fabricated ship with all of these items locked.

We've had a lot of people down here at CM HQ, from Magazines and sites, play testing the game in its current build (Alpha/pre-Beta) so checking your PCZone/PC Gamer mags the coming month for reviews.

I think you are able to tweak you'r ship with whatever weapon etc you want.

I really would like to play Quantar since they seem to be underpop and have fast ships, but the ships are so ugly :(

Yeah, you buy the modules... however the ships have different sized slots.

So a tow will have a size 5 shield but a fighter will have a size 3 shield, then within each size range you will have a variety of different options. Ofc the better the item in the size range the more expensive/rarer it is.

Also the bigger the size of the slot the heavier the item will be so it will increase the overall mass of you ship, which makes it harder to accelerate/decelerate/maneuver etc.

This is how it was in JGC, but from the video's I've seen it looks pretty similar.
