Vidic and Jagielka it is.

Vidic with 17 votes, Jagielka with 9.

Terry, Rio and Alex with 4 votes each were the next nearest.

Very dissapointing results and very bad voting in my opinion.

Fair enough that Vidic wins it but Ferdinand is a far better defender than him and Jagielka is no way near the level of those two - as he demonstrated against Spain.

It's a team of the season though. Rio hasnt had a better season than those 2 so didn't win. Simple as that.

Ferdinand isnt a better defender then Vidic imo. He a better player, but not a better defender. Heading, tackling, closing down etc has vidic ahead of rio, rio is the sweeper for united, he mops up the results of vidics work most the time. Afteral 90% the time if the ball goes into the box you will see Vidic being the one that correctly positioned to make the headed clearance etc.

Rio is better on the ball, at dribbling, passing etc which makes him an alround better player but pure defensively you cant beat vidic.
