Dudes, I just got the TP-LINK AV500 to powerline from my modem to the room where my workstation resides. Let me just say it's cheap, easy to set up (eg just plug in the wall sockets) and it will do it's thing.

Powerline to the work room in stead of wireless has gained me 8 mbits of bandwidth and lost me 10 ms of ping. The AV500 has power passthrough as well so I haven't even lost the wall sockets.

It's synced on the lowest speed (the 500 being the give away for best speed ofc) but I will swiftly remedy that as one of the units is at the far end of a daisy chain of extension cords...both to test it, and also because there simply are no wall sockets free in the work room lol.

I'd heartily recommend any form of powerline for those with reasonably new cables in the walls (but no ethernet) and wireless woes or wanting to connect a NAS to the wireless hub while retaining decent speeds like myself.
