We really aren't that different. Why'd you think people post here aswell?

Its not so much the DAOC forums that are effected as the other 'dead' ones. There are many threads along the lines of:

'Testing'

'Will they catch this?'

etc

etc

Which is silly.

Personally I don't really care so much about post count and thus wouldn't mind it getting rid of.

Also why do you always argue here when somebody insults DAOC? Can't you just ignore it? I work at McD's for over three years and was called worse every day I went into work. It saves a lot of bad feeling really doesn't it?

Well, I'm over joyed that this can be discussed without resorting into a shit version of West Side Story.

To be honest, this DAoC versus General thing is a load of bollocks. Reminds me of when kids from Bognor School would go and meet some kids from Felpham school on a field somewhere, and one kid would bring a sock full of snooker balls, and everyone would just stand around chest puffing and spitting because they go to different schools. That's, like, war, man. There's only ever like three people from either forum that have a problem with each other, and then they just raise their voices and run around in different hats trying to look like a crowd. Ekydus, there was no need to burst into this thread and slander DMW, it was out of the blue and has nicely riled up what could have been a decent discussion. Now its degenerated into another stupid OMG US AND THEM thing.

I can ban people for spamming, I've given out warnings and some people are on a last chance but to be honest I hate banning people, I get given grief when I do it and I save it generally for when people threaten to kill people in real life, when they post pictures of old people giving each other oral, or when they are just plain mentalist. It seems stupid banning people for spamming, not saying I won't do it, but I'd rather find other ways to stop it. Hence discussing what people think of postcounts and why we have them.

tbh that makes no sense, there are so many DAoC forums I'm fairly lost as to how you need a "general" for them all, but as I don't post there I doubt I'm supposed to get it.

Diety status has lost it's appeal. When i started posting here (on another account) it was only the minority who held the title. Now, every man and his dog has it, and it's lost its old 'meaning'. I couldn't care less if i had one post, or 1 million.

For the first diety, you're correct. But i don't remember anyone else racing for the title? I'm probably wrong. The only one i remember(aside from TUG) was the 10,000 post between Wij and TdC.

Its just a community thing - remember that for most of the folks on the DAOC forums that is the reason they came to the barrysworld forums - its like a comfy old couch with familiar stains - it was a natural progression that folk found similar minded folk around them and fancied talking about things that weren't limited to the game itself and the general forum looked scary so the daoc off topic forums were born.

Frequenting both the general and daoc forums the only difference between the two is the popularity/number of posters/posts - because of this it is far harder to control - the task of mods such as Damini is daunting and I sure as hell dont envy them...

The only way to tackle spamming is to make it pointless which means not displaying titles - I actually think this isnt a bad thing anyway as it removes another barrier to people who are just starting out.
