Possible to run 2 original clients without 512mb ram?

Hi, well i have bought 1.5GB of DDR PC3700 non-parity RAM, and my computer won't run 2 clients. I get the 'you must be using 512mb of ram' etc message. I got someone from the comp shop to make sure my ram was ok and everything and it is, and it still says i don't have 512mb of ram. I don't get any lag with 1 client. I just need to run a second. Does anyone know how to bypass the security test that checks for the ram, i tried using things like daocwin, which shouldn't be needed, but they are all out of date, none for 1.60 so i can't run 2 clients, although i could suppost about 6 !

If anyone knows can they let me know via PM or post.

PC3700 ????????? didnt even know it went that high thought PC3200 was the best, how much did that set you back then????

There is a way to bypass that check, heard of some peoples systems, usually very high spec getting the same problem I think it was some motherboard overclocking setting, not sure. Someone will know.

Suppose with that spec you have a 400mhz fsb cpu and mobo chipset? that must be so god damn fast its unreal.

The ram cost me just shy of £450, probably should have waited for price to lower a bit but I don't like waiting :)

I got a 333mhz fsb with support for pc 3700 ram, I didn't even know 400mhz was out ! lol

As for the speed, when i turn it doesn't go in stages like it used to, it's soooo smooth :D Unfortunatly I havn't had a chance to try two clients which was the whole point of investing so much in my recent upgrades :/

Still need fix for 512mb ram check :(

Fyi PC3200 ram is 400Mhz
Not sure about PC3700 is but its more than 400Mhz

And yes Daoc runs fine with an 400Mhz FSB
my 1700+ is doing overtime at 3200+ with FSB 400
with soon 1024Mb of Dual DDR ram

You seem to be confused, your talking about RAM, im talking about motherboards. RAM fsb can be faster than a chipsets fsb, they are seperate, FYI :)

Actually, you can get Win98 to use more than 512, just have to fiddle with Min and Max filecache etc. But... best is to upgrade to WinXP :)

Not sure that is the problem tho, as the person himself hasnt stated which OS he's running.

Yep you can make the win 98,Me run with more than 512MB, by doing the change

http:

//support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;253912

(Read the whole thing)

If you don't make the change, then windows starts overwriting memory segments and wierd things start happening, like installs start failing.

I would be interested to know which motherboard you are running, which allow 3 sticks of 512MB Dual channel (DDR) memory to run in dual mode, and not switching to single mode.

i know i run FSb at 200 but ram goes in 400 (PC3200)

Like a eg. amd 2000+ runs in 266 its 133*2 or barton 333 is 166*2
or last barton 200*2
