Possessed CD Drive.

It keeps opening and closing by itself and locking up my PC occasionally while making a little clicking noise. I've rebooted and disabled it in system but it's still being annoying.

Need either a way of fixing it or an interesting way of destroying it. Doesn't matter what happens to it too much as I've been planning on getting a combi-drive for ages.

Hmm just ran Norton and it didn't find anything. What else should I do?

Open your microwave door, insert CD drive into said microwave.

Close door set to 5 hour cooking time. Press Engage/Start/Whatever

You running any extra CD monitoring tools like the Creative Labs Autostart thing?

Might be worth disabling anything like that and letting it run raw.

If that doesn''t help disconnect it, reboot. Then reconnect it. See if there's some kinda drivers issue at stake.

Run an update virus checker, or an online checker.

Use Ad Aware and spybot to clean any adbots cookies etc that are on your pc.

If that doesnt fix it uninistall any file sharing programs you have like Kazaa etc.

Started a witch hunt now. My PC is cleaner than my oven (which I just cleaned.)
