Well Gordon brown is officially the Prime Minister after the Queen asked to form a government.

I feel he will be better than Blair but you can never tell with politicians.

As a side note Quentin Davies (shadow Cabinet Minister) quite the conservatives to join Gordon Brown.

I have a feeling its going to be quite a battle for Cameron if he is to defeat Gordon at the next election...

I have 2 cars and a house and I like Gordon Brown. Before another politics thread kicks off, I am well aware no one is perfect and Labour has flaws. But we have moved forward as a country in the time that Labour has been in charge. I have no doubt we would have made inroads under a conservative government as well but a change was needed because oour country was being screwed.

That and he's managed to keep the economy strong whilst almost all of our western neighbours, both eu and the US are struggling. It might bite us in the arse one day, but thank our lucky stars we aren't the US at the moment :)

Hes managed to keep the economy strong by false means.

Credit card debts highest ever, petrol prices highest ever I could go on. Basically the shit will hit the fan within the next 5/10 years, just like it did the last time Labour were in power then the Tories had to clean their shit up.

I dislike Brown and I would like to see an English bloke be head of the Scottish government...never gonna happen.

Yes I agree the economy has boomed and has been very stable so far. he has done a great job there. There is no doubt about that.

I would bet that credit card debt would have increased anyway as well as petrol prices...

The reason our economy is doing well is basically cheap imports from places like China.

House prices are up the duff, interest rates are starting to bite.......its clear to me that Gordon Brown wants an early election because it would be easier to win than an election with interest rates at 8% and house prices falling.

The man is a dour blood sucking charmless idiot. The sooner we get Boris Johnson into no.10, the better :D

Blair has had is issues but without doubt one of, if not the, best government leader we've had for a long time.

But I do feel we as a country need more of a Thatcher to sort out most the bollocks and cut to the chase - i.e. kick out the immigrant fuckwit.

But then again, I care little enough about politics to ignore most of it.

The strong economy comes mainly from a couple of areas, he kept interest rates down and (ironically) left in place most of the Tory antipathy towards Europe (not joining the Euro, or the working time directive). On the other hand, interest rates are on the way up, most of us have the highest individual tax burden, well, ever, and all the stuff that we were stealth-taxed up the wazoo to help fix, like the NHS, isn't.

It always strikes me that Brown has been successful where he's NOT done stuff, and unsuccessful where he's interfered.

Unfortunately, I think the Tories will probably implode over some stupid issue before the next election and Brown will get in, and with that the last of our personal freedoms will go out the window. My personal view is that NO party should be given more than ten years in office; power corrupts and all that...

He's snuck in through the back door, would people that have voted Labour do so for Brown rather than Blair in charge?

in the knowledge that IF brown called a general election, it would be fairly possible the tories got in - how many of us would vote labour just to keep the tories out?

personally i'm quite glad there won't be an election as right now the tories would fucking stroll in...

Personally I think that as soon as the current primeminister resigns the deputy takes control but a general election is forced.

Sorry but who the fuck voted that twat into power? Yes I mean Gordy. I certainly fucking didn't and I do not want that **** sucking me dry anymore.

Labour have done some good things for Britain in the last 10 years but they have also stitched up middle-earth fucking rotten. C**ts.

I best stop as I am getting wound up.
