rooney has potentials to be a great player but he ergently need to loose some pounds. Otherwise in a few years he will not even be able to turn

Rooney is a kid and light years away from what Pelé was... tbh i dont think you'll see another Pele for ages... like no other Eusebio or no other Maradona... the game is different now and none would be as important to a team as they were anymore... Rooney made a very good champioship but that's it... remember Nuno Gomes in Euro 2k ? same shit...
2nd
Greek team plays defensive that's true, not appealing to the eye, also true, but anyways they beaten Portugal, France and Chzechis and not less beaten Spain on the qualifies... So that kind of game earned them the Final at the champioships and all Greeks should be proud of it... it's a game and u have to win it... playing nice and beauty or not just win it...
3rd
I'm Portuguese and sure hoped we had a final with the Chzechis to see who the best on tournament was think it was the fairest and Czechs didnt deserve to loose that game to Greece if there were fairness on this game, anyways they did and i think we'll have a Final going to only one side of the pitch and that's greek side... Nevertheless i hope portugal scores and win it but beware since Greek counter attack will be waiting for one fatal mistake to score and then put 11 players behind the ball has they did before...

In Sum,
Let the best team win the game and let this game be enough amusing to the fans (i really doubt it) and please GOD let the best team be PORTUGAL

GO GO PORTUGAL
PORTUGAL ALLEZ !!! PORTUGAL ALLEZ !!! PORTUGAL ALLEZ !!!

have u ever wacthed a game with Greece? Did we do that when we beat u on the first game? If we were so defensive as u say we surely wouldnt have won the games. The best options would have been ties. Dont u rememeber that always on the last 15 mins even with the game with u that we were winning 2-0 we put on game offensive players instead of stoper as we could have done.

Portugal is better team if we put down the quality of your players but if you think that only with this can win the game with us you will be so suprised by the final result.

Let the best team win the game and let this game be enough amusing to the fans (i really doubt it) and please GOD let the best team be PORTUGAL

tell me someone the last time that u watched a nice game not only on finals but even on semi finals. The good games are being made on the group phase imo.

PS:May the best Greek team win :worthy:

I hope that Portugal win. Greece's style of football is teh boring.

While I could watch Ronaldo play Dance Dance Revolution with the ball all day long.

:worthy:

It'll probably be quite close, though. It all depends on that damn Greek defence :p

Edit~ The Greeks do have George Clooney playing for them, though :D

come on it is not so boring as u say all the time. Ok we dont have ronaldo, figo or rui costa but we always try to make chances to score. if we wre so defensive as u all say we never have reached this far. To win an opponenet u need to score :)

Rememeber the first game Portugal-Greece . we were defensive there ?? :)

PS:I hope it will end like this today also btw :)

If Greece manage for the first 10 min to keep it to 0-0 then the game will be difficult for the Portugish

Greece have scored six goals in five games, hardly attacking football is it? That sort of football is fine if it's your team playing it and it's getting results for you, but let's not pretend it's earth shatteringly exciting.

England did not deserve to go through against Portugal in the quarter finals, but the competition has been much poorer since our defeat. I'm not even sure if I will turn the television on to watch the match ... one pundit thought with the defensive nature of the two teams it could be quite tricky to get them to anything as offensive as kick off ;)

Totally agree with the competition being poorer without the english team on the championship. If it wasnt for some english fans who just dont know how to drink i would say england fans give a special touch to any competition.
Totally agree england didnt deserved to go through against portugal, not because i'm portuguese, but because england tryed to mantain it's goal on the 3rd minute till the end of the match... and tbh that costed england their loss on that game.

You really havent seen Greek fans i suppose. 5.000 Greek fans can easily put aside 20.000 English fans.

It is a bit ironic to say that Greece's playstyle is boring . Better take a look first at your own team.Grats u managed to adopt Italy's playstyle :)

Our manager worked in Italy, one shouldn't be too surprised that he adopts those tactics ... although he invariably adopts them to defend a 1-0 lead; that he should do the same against Portugal after trying (and failing) to do the same against France shows the limits of his managerial skills.

However the Greek team play like that in every match. Keep it tight, hit on the break and try to pinch a goal. There is nothing wrong with playing like that. Hell if it's your team that plays AND WINS like that then that's great. But it doesn't make for an exciting spectacle for a neutral to watch.

Whatever England's failings (and they are many) we contributed a lot of excitement to this competition, and a lot of goals. One against France; Three against the Swiss; Four against Croatia; Two (and should have been three) against Portugal. Add to that the 'never say die' approach and the excitement and heartache of yet another penalty shootout.

That Greece have got to the final is a fabulous, fabulous praiseworthy achievement. But - please - enough of the self-praise, your team's football is dull.

defensive play is dull to watch attacking is fun to watch, more goals means usually more chances means more attacking means more fun?

I agree that it's propably boring to outsiders or to most of the people who only understand that football is good when the final score is 5-4 or something.

But two things:

First, when it's your team you are always absorbed in the game and are excited about it so don't really feel the boredom of someone who doesn't care for the result. I am quite sure that many Swedes and Dutch may have found the match between them thrilling but at least until extra time i couldn't even watch it (only Euro match i went to do something else until it went to extra time).

I bet many English and French found the game between them exciting, but truth is that until 90' it was almost unbearable. Both teams were playing some of the crappiest football in euro finals. If it wasn't for the surprise in the end, hardly anyone would remember that game.

Second, i think that defensive football is not necessarily bad football. Most people just like seeing games with many goals but i think that's mostly because they don't know much about it. I prefer seeing smart tactics and i think there is beauty in defensive play too.

For example, in the last Euro, the semi-final between Italy and NL was one of the most exciting matches i have ever seen and one that Italy really deserved to win. Beyond some luck (2 lost penalties :p) they played one of the best defensive games i have ever seen and the Dutch could not score even if they had ball possesion and were neat the Italian penalty area for like 115/120 mins.

I think there's defensive game and 'defensive' game, where the first means a tight, well organised defence that stops the opponent's advancement and gives you space to play with counter attack mostly. The 'defensive' game is 11 people behind the ball, mostly doing harsh fouls to cut the opponent's growth and just kicking the ball outside their area without doing any effort to hold it at all. It's a difference between playing defensively and playing destructively.

I don't think Greece is trying to destroy the game, imo it is playing defensively but in a classy way. Even if that is still boring for most people.
