Pop-ups when starting / closing IE

Whenever I start or close IE , I get pop-ups from various websites. Ive tried 3 or 4 anti spyware programs , but none can get rid of this problem.

I was wondering if a simple anti-popup program would stop this , or would I have to do something more drastic like formatting (don't really want to)

p.s no I dont want to use any alternatives to IE

try the removal tool at www.lop.com .... i had a thing that did this turned out to be lop search engine and toolbar thing .. but there is a removal thing at lop.com.

can try the pop up thing by getting the google search bar it stops popups and its free.

Sounds like a nasty spyware, your usual spyware will not remove this.

For e.g., try doing a regedit and search for roimoi
If you don;t know how to do this, I won;t tell you....coz it means you may stuff up if u do get roimoi, post back and i'll try help out

I had same as u got Succi

It was even found in the "process" list in "ctrl,alt,delete" menu.

I ran Adaware 1 time and it was gone xD

Spyware picks it up as roings (sp?)
There is a way to get rid of it, but it's quite tricky. Simply because it creates a randomly named .exe file.

Can't be 100% certain this is the problem you have, although it does sound like it.

Try doing this to see.

Start > Run > type in "regedit".
Then Edit and Find "roimoi"

If you're not used to regedit, then don't go deleting things just yet

Download Webroot Spy Sweeper trial version, update it after install and run a scan. It's got rid of every bit of spyware i've come across. Might have to reboot and run in safe mode if it doesn't get rid first time though.

They are propably laced into your IE browser.


Firstly update Windows to the max! Including all Service Packs for IE etc. Should help the IE problem. Next go get a diffrent browser. Trust me it makes like nicer. Just having a diffrent browser for the multi'-tab's is worth it

Ohhh sorry i just re-read ure post about not wanting to use anything else...


Out of question why? Other browsers are way more secure on their own. IE is just idiotic to run. But if you must. Make sure your fully patched and have a running Nortons Protect for Windows.

the only reason why the spyware won't remove it is because half of the needed files are running in the process tree as said meaning those files won't be removed. Ofc. if you run ad-aware with custom settings as explained here http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=11613
the chance will be greater that it will be removed. If still not, just press ctrl+alt+delete, check all exe files on google and see what they're used for, close IE, terminate any spyware/malware/browser hijackers etc. just found by googling the exe files then run ad-aware/spyware tool again , custom scan with ad-aware. (some spyware can be manually removed by going to Start->Settings->Control Panel-> add/remove software tho, ALWAYS check this option first)

oh and Despite you saying no alternative, Mozilla Firefox looks alot like IE, yet it's much more secure when it comes to active-x (that which auto-installs spyware with IE just by surfing to a bad site, while Firefox should prompt for installing it)

Updated adaware to ver 6, and that in partnership with closing some dodgy processes has seemed to fix the problem
