None at all in local Game shops in my part of the UK. The store Assistants had not even heard of it. When I asked what MMORPG game they would recommend, it was EQ.
My Local GAME store is in BlackBurn UK, and on release they had a few copies (20ish) and they sold out fairly fast, then in June(ish) they go tthe one with the new cover in and the sold out fast to ( i got a second copy then) but since then not had any in, and on a recent trip to Manchester i looked in every computer store in centre (ones i could find) and not one had a copy, i looked in HMV and VIRGIN too, nowt in those either!
I'm in Birmingham on Thursday, so my hunt will continue then! uke:
4) The 2 Games in Slough haven't had copies in ages
And SI will do us no good at all, it will release stateside hitting all the press encouraging an upturn in accounts. 3 months later GOA will catch up by which time the press has gone and we'll be seeing 1 page 'same as the US' reviews in UK game mags.
Get ready for another game of hide & seek if you intend to buy it.
Now I haven't realy been out looking for it since I got it back in feb, but the few times I have been out buying games since then I haven't seen more than a few copies of daoc. Most of those has been for the US-version as well =/
Unless Mythic/GOA do some sort of demo server with limitations, I'd seriously doubt if any new players would come along.
How many people would have never heard of the game if it wasn't on PC Gamer during beta? EA have put a demo of UO on cover CD's occasionally, would be nice to see the same thing for DAoC. Just put a restricted server which only demo players can use, let players get a taste of the game.
But we've got more chance of seeing a cabalist in emain than this happening.
