This quote comes in a tin of 100% guaranteed confusion for those that even bother to vote. Nice! I find very few politicians to be 'decent' people and rather verge on being wankers for the sake of what is probably the worst job in the world. Career prospects = few. Your job depends on your policies, popularity and the ability to deliver which ofc other politicians with the same agenda will try and stop you. And finally, the dole queue is no less further from you than any other temp working a shit job. Save that people will remember who you are and if you did badly, sh1t your prospects of ever finding work in a country where you were remembered or can be googled.

I still liked what he said, even though I don't like the wanker. MEP's seem to me like the new federal state police to keep what is and always has been a volatile region spent on capitalist issues that break up into quangos known as nation states.

If I were him, I'd agree too, fucker is dangerous tbh. Not that I don't like the EU or the euro or what ever incarnation it chooses to be in the next five minutes. I just look at the treaties etc and can only think of the human rights convention is the only thing that has come out of it.

Some of what he's said seems to have needed saying:

YouTube- Nigel Farage on who's who in the EU commission

May not be right, but its rare to see someone who's willing to stand up and be counted on controversial issues like this in politics these days tbh. Even if I agree he does seem to enjoy it a little bit too much, I have to respect him for having doing the right thing, even if its not necessarily for the right reasons.

Ok yeah some of that stuff isn't so bad. But I still don't like him due to my general opposition to UKIP and the irrelevant insults he is quoted as saying in the first link.

Nigel Ferage is an opinionated twat and needs to know how to act appropriately in his professional capacity as a MEP. What a dick. And he has the nerve to speak "on behalf of the British people". Fuck off. I don't know much about Herman Vom Rumpy but at least have the common decency to leave personal character assassinations in private.

Are you being serious??? Anyone that is the top of the food chain like him is dangerous, moreso because know one actually knows who he is. Which then beggars the questions why is he there? Someone is pulling his strings no doubt about that.

"Mr Van Rompuy, 62, was chosen unanimously by the governments of the EU's 27 member states to take on the role of the first permanent European Council president.

Described as camera-shy and sometimes given the nickname the "grey mouse", he is seen as a coalition builder, credited for steering linguistically divided Belgium out of crisis. "

But hey - I guess 27 EU member states are all 'pulling strings.'

We here in europe and such countries don't get so hellbent on politics as you Brits, you seem to have a inbred ability to overexaggarate, overblow and build massive molehills out of every little political thing.

Add that to you thinking someone who is at all unpleasent or against you is a "cobshite stupid faggot retard" or some such polite way you put it, does not a good mix make.

This Facade fellow, well, i'm just wondering why he's in the Europian Parlament if he wants out so much. There's the door! :p

The uk is still in it because not everyone is a retard over here, there just happens to be a few people who are, like nigel farage.

And you Europeans seem to have an inbred ability to elect either batshit crazy or just downright evil people as leaders.

I know which trait I'd prefer.

Tell you what, you can keep your Hitlers, Mussolini's and Milosevic's on your side of our little moat, and we'll keep our perchant for keeping a watchful eye on our leaders on ours, shall we?

Edit: Sorry if that comes over as harsh, but fuck me if I don't hate people throwing sweeping generalisations about like that, especially when they're flat wrong. Not so much fun when it's aimed at you, eh?

Not really wrong, UK politics are heated at best. Just look at this forum and how politicss are about. Hell, look at this thread. Insults seem to be your bread and butter.

And i wouldn't throw that whole "bad leaders" about, atleast that blade swings both ways :p

Ofcourse it's a generalisation, it doesn't mean you ALL are that way, but your country is viewed by your majority and media.

Your sweeping generalistation is wrong in exactly the same way the sweeping generalisation I used as an example was wrong. You yourself said the blade swings both ways, you honestly believe that isn't as true, if not more so, about your point as it was about mine?

Oh and before you get defensive, the whole 'bad leaders' (honestly though, 'bad' isn't the word) bit was kinda used as a counter-point - perhaps the reason we've not had such trouble is simply because of the issues you're talking about - making 'moutains our of molehills'. Perhaps if some of you europeans had made mountains out of the 'molehills' I mentioned in my previous post they'd never have gotten into power?

It's not wrong because it's the image given by your people. Do you understand that? Same way as you would describe finland, not true to all aspects, but to some degree.

You are a very political and very fast-draw nation. You see it on these forums all the time, politics gets heated, people are accused of being this wing or that(even non-brits) and in most cases, if someone gets annoted, the nameflinging starts.

The generalisation you used isn't modern and if we go back in time in generalisations, your country has a fair share of tyrants, while the generalisation i used isn't that much apt in europe.

Generalisations are fine if they aren't taken or used as "you all are like this", which it never should.

Not that I think Toht has a particular strong viewpoint himself here but this is a silly argument really.

Hitler didn't get into power because eastern europe didn't 'make mountains out of molehills,' and I highly doubt the same applies to the other people you quoted. The problems go a lot deeper and are much more subjective. Indeed, it was probably the political scope for improvement and development after the disasters of WWI that pushed people to listen to the political agenda of Hitler.

I didnt say it was the sole reason, I said "perhaps" - I am aware of how Hitler got into power.

The thing I'm trying to highlight here is that if no one stands up and says "Oi, what the hell do you think you're playing at?" , then what's to stop it all happening again?

Probably better ways of making the point, but I was on the way out to the pub :) Yes, I'm invoking the Pub excuse, and sod the lot of you!

And all i'm highlighting is that brits tend to do too much of "Oi you wanker! What the hell do you think you're playing at you tosser?"

Clear? Crystal.

Watched it, thought he came over alright to be honest, they didn't really give him a chance to defend himself though, alot of the time he was being talked over or not even allowed to respond at all even when it was to do with his remarks against the EU President.

Even though the other party representitives were trying to score points by going on about being "civilised" etc, he still came over ok I think.

The thing I kept shouting at the TV was that they'd not even be debating the whole EU issue if he'd not have spoken out about it like he did - does anyone here really think they'd have heard of this grey mouse bloke if Ferage had been civil? I sincereley doubt it.

And all i'm highlighting is that brits tend to do too much of "Oi you wanker! What the hell do you think you're playing at you tosser?"

Clear? Crystal.

And all I was trying to do is highlight the possibility that europeans don't do enough of it - Yea, Clear.

I don't think UK people overexaggerate - just the UK is in a special situation in re: to political and economical climate.

We're stuck between G20; Obama's bum crack and the EU. Germany is our main trading partner as of lately and we'd benefit from being in the EU greatly if only for the common currency. But the EU suck at doing anything collaboratively and China and the US actually have a clue as to how to sort the global situation out (just a shame US don't have a clue how to do finances - then again, neither does our government).

Hence why we have so many extreme views on what to do and what not to do.

Godwins Law, you mean :D

Lets face it, hes an easily recognisable, real world example for anything from evil geniuses to people who liked certain types of cheese, its hardly suprising :)

And to be fair, 24 posts could be considered quite a long time in a political-themed thread!!

Can we have FH law?

Given any topic or subject matter on FH, Toht will always take the opposite and most controversial viewpoint to the majority.
