Armsman spec: 44 slash, 44 pole, 42 shield, 13 parry

SC template - how much do I need to put in these before difference in damage is very small? eg how much +polearm should I have with pole out, how much parry should I have with pole out, or with shield out, etc etc

Help!

Difference between 42 shield and above is not all to great so as a hybrid this isnt to important in my opinion.

But prefferably you will want them all maxed :)

Slash spec will give the minimum damage per swing, while polearm will set the maximum damage per swing. As a result, with the hybrid spec, I feel you are being a bit gimped. You ideally want to put the extra slash onto the armor, so you have it both with polearm, and the slash/shield out. This is not possible (2-handed weapons should have had double imbue points really), so I would suggest doing +5 shield & slash on the sword, and +5 shield and slash on the shield (99% qua, so 30 over 28 imbue points). This will give you +10 to slash and +10 to shield. Polearm you will have to go +6 polearm, and +4 slash (99% qua, 32 over 28 imbue points.
But using more than +4 skill at the same time is inefficient really, but with hybrid spec you are forced to do so. I would also look to put parry +8 atleast on you armor, as parry can be used by both polearm and slash, so needs to be up at all times.
But unless you have a full mp set, you will not cap all your stats I think, might not even be possible with a full mp set.

don't get +shield unless you want your slams doing more damage :)

(might be nice for PvE but that's not the intention)

Not sure if base spec over 50 improves damage - something I need to shanghai Bleri (or some other polearmsman) into testing :)

but get as much +polearm as you can.

+skills are more important for a melee char than resists imo

cap the eseentials sure, melee cold/body/heat/energy let the other slide some.

you killed alot of mobs to earn those points u spent at your trainer. here's another +11 to all of them for a few gold, u gonna turn that down? :)

I'm not looking for incredible damange-per-slam on my shield, but does +shield increase block rate or simply damage? If it's just damage it doesn't bother me.

Sometimes the RA's will help a lot.
Mastery of Blocking will help 5% per lvl, so well worth to bring it up till lvl 3, same with parry, bring that up till lvl 3. 15% extra parry on top of your own parry spec.
Mastery of Pain is nice, specially with polearm, as crits can be 99% of damage done :p 500+350 is ok damage :p

atm: 44 inst 44 slash 21 stealth (or more if auto in inst - ie: if u were powlevd)

in 1.60: 50 inst (70hp ablative), 34 slash (34+11+rr aint so bad..), 26 stealth (climb wall)

Temp I hacked up had the Qui when S/S and 0 Qui with Pole.

IMO, if you are pole, you want max damage per swing (max style bonus), and thus want no Qui. When you have S/S you want to be as fast as possible (breaking bubbles, slamming things) and thus want higher Qui.

(Your only problem then is do you accept the dex/qui buffs or not? ;) )

get quickness

it improves your damage over time - just doesn't improve styled damage over time.

I.e. if you hit for 150+150 styled every 6 seconds, haste to 4 seconds and you do 150+100 every 4 sconds ...

250 every 4 or 300 every 6? take your pick :)

only zerks really have the excuse for not taking quickness - and that's because they don't do any base damage (well not compared to their ridiculous styles) and already have their own haste.

What kind of wimpy polearm only does 250/300 damage with styles (when buffed to cap) ?

A polearmsman (like a zerk only not as stupidly overpowered :p ) is not meant to stick around for a drawn-out fight. They are meant to smack things hard and move on.

If say I chucked in some MP arms, or even another couple of MP pieces, fancy seeing if it's possible for me, as you are obviuosly the SC template master?

ie cap everything you can with as few MP as possible (preferably not MP pole as it costs a fortune)

If you do this, I call you holy mumma for the rest of your life.

Actually, the only MP I used was the shield (cheap as chips)... (I stuck some other MPs in, but didn't use the points).

Anyways, there's no way I'm doing that if I'm going to be called 'holy mumma' thankyou very much :p
