Plz help me decide betwen this NS templates (think they are ok)

Lo :) im new making NS templates, so after study some around in webs, i got 3 templates that think that cover more or less what a ns need, (stats, resists, etc), thing is im not sure if i left any important hole there, so plz give me your comments, and if anything need a really fix say me :p

Btw just posting stats (dont want to make here a neverending post with 3 templates), if anyone want me to post the items of 1 of them or them 3 i will do in another post.

. nice resists all around (just weaking energy and matter).

Im resumen;
* 1st template is cool all around about str and dex cap, resists, af, etc but miss maybe some more melee bonus, and some more hits.
* 2nd template have not bad caps, and resists but maybe some resists are too low the same as the af (just 20),but then has 90 more hits that 1st template, and the better skills (with even 11cd and 4 envenom).
* 3r template is a mix of them 2, about str and dex cap is the worst of them 3, the resists arent so good as 1st one but then the weak ones arent so low as 2nd one, have same hits and melee bonus that second one, af bonus is betwen 1st and 2nd template, and about skills have same as 1st one.





Well plz help me decide :p, and if see any great hole in them templates say me.

If think i could try and make any other good template around, leave the link for it too :)

Overall would you run with any of this templates?

Swapping in two items for applying poisons is annoying.. its what I have at the moment :( but you do get used to it. Just thought I'll share that.

As for the templates themselves, well, they are kinda bad, to be completely honest with you.. I have made templates that caps both str / dex and has +10% melee/style, with better resists, AF, skills and hits, :/ sorry to be harsh.

I have a couple of good high damage ones you can take a look at if you like. It seems to be what you're interested in most. Doesn't use any uber hard to get items either (levi/kraken)

Actually I think temp 2 looks the best out of the three.. esp with the 3 envenom.

Of course you not being harsh, that is what im looking for (im looking for help) so plz let me know links where i can find templates like that, becuase tbh after been checking websites for HOURS i really cant find that, for example in vnboards i been checking like 20 full pages, and none of them templates are near what you saying, and them best are similars to the ones i posted here. So plz if you can share with me that templates or give me links would be totally cool becuase as i said i have spend hours and hours checking out templates this past days and im a bit pissed now :p


Btw im looking for PIERCE templates, as blades i can find similar templates to the ones you saying but with pierce is complete impossible for me.

I would try to help you, though you dont specify what weapons you are using/want to use at all?

although for almost any weapon combo i wouldnt be happy with the templates above much, even as a pierce shade i like to have at least +280 hits.

though if i had to pick one i think i'd go with no. 2.

post what weapon combos you want to use and ill offer advice from there.

Ah alright, thought you made them, sometimes when I post a template up I don't like it too much when someone just says "nah sucks. remake." I was just being consolatory ie. :fluffle:

Well anyway, so here's what I made earlier, two flavours!

Template 1 - Max damage

I made this one as a quick test to see how much it hurts your template to go for high damage whilst being Pierce, but it turned out rather well, yet I've no doubt it can be tweaked a little to bring CD up a bit and squeeze in a little bit more dmg.

Note: uses energy wep (to deal extra punishment to those with weak resists and get the last 2% toa dmgs) oh and it's like +10% to all visibles targets' armor types, has a proc that debuffs 35% energy resists. Basically it's fecking awesome damage.

As with most damage orientated pierce templates, you need to push both str and dex up for your damage increase, a lot of utility and imbue points were used up in that last template that could otherwise have gone into raising HP and other goodies. :(

Template 2 - Max hits

The opposite end of the scale is where you raise your cap on con and hits to the max. This one I spent ages on and is on my other thread where I asked ppl if it was actually possible at all to have a pierce template with 400 hits and 25 con overcap without major weaknesses appearing (ie. maintaining decent AF, resists % and +skills) Yeah after hours and hours the answer was yes, in the end it was suprisingly simple too.

Simple as in use 3 tempered prefix items from DS lol! So yes I was happy to be able to keep +8% melee / +10% style, whilst having 400 hits and 100 con. The only thing I didnt like about it, was that it didn't max out AF, seeing as I wanted this to be a max defense template, but at 26AF it isn't too bad.

Might notice that both are not perfect with only +4 to CD and a 10% gap in body resist, CL resists will cap it but still, rather have 36%. It just means you'll get hurt more if you miss remedy.

Some tips for you if you are gonna try making your own shade template.
  1. Always include - SoM, +5 melee haste, haste is good etc. plus the ablative wins fights, it's no good having a +400 hits and +25 con template if you dont have SoM in it, you'll still lose to someone with the SoM ablative. I know this from bitter experience :(
  2. Don't leave spirit and energy at 0 - at least 11% so when people use a spirit/energy weapon on you, they are not doing more damage than using a heat weapon. (Leather is 15% vulnerable to heat and neutral to Spirit / Energy )
  3. Make the template mainhand independent. This is nice as it lets you make good tactical decisions, switching from your heaters to your thrust champ wep to fight a chain wearer gives you +20% dmg instantly (their armor is now vulnerable instead of resistant to your dmg type). Yes, you have to over imbue points (and hence waste) in order to not lose stats when you swap, and this is often not doable in pierce templates.

    Alternatively, and this is what I do, make the template so it will allow you to swap* one piece of armor in, like a pair of gloves, and let you use the other weapon with correct stats.

    *Some people hate swapping anything, I've lived with swapping two pieces for envenom and four (!) pieces for dmg type change for a few months now. It really sucks, but again you get used to it and reapplying poisons is like autopilot for me now.. still, I am looking forward to my new template ... 1 swap will feel like a luxury.
  4. As for getting close to 10% melee and 10% style
    - Artifact chest piece - GoV, GSV. +4/4
    - Champ weapon +4/4
    - Sun weapon +2/2

    but NOT artifact accessories - Mad Scalars +3 / Gem of Lost Memories +2/2
    These suck in terms of loss of utility points (Mad Scalars is only 30 and occupies a slot that usually gives ~65). Similarly with the Gem of Lost Memories, you can get a 84 or 83 utility gem in there, don't shaft yourself badly by gimping your highest util slot.
  5. Check http://www.ethinarg.com/ for when you're lacking in something you want. Like an +AF item. You might find something you have not considered before.

There is a template 3 and it's a compromise between the two. But I like it too much at the moment to give it to the world, give me time :p

Really apreciate the responces :)

To Neffneff about what weapon combos i would like, i would prefer a template that had legendary weapons as main, and then as offhand i really dont mind but GS or Champion weapon could be nice.

To Ivynoxia well after read your responce i got amazed :p, really ta a lot for all the help in there, really got amazed :p
About the template stats i put in there mostly of them templates are from other webs and then tweaked by me (but as i can see in the responces i having seems i didnt do it very well).
About your templates i like 1st one, i know has low hits but still all other things seems cool.
Surely will have a look at them in the scer program :)

Here's a any LW pierce temp, hope it helps you out a bit. just remember that stat overcaps arn't really worth the SC points. its something like 0.2% increased dmg for every 1 attack stat, maybe less. so 10 extra dex AND str stats = about 2%. fit in what you can, but dont gimp yourself doing it.

Well suppose at the end will manadge to get at least a decent one :p

Btw dont known the stat cap gave so little damage :/ if is like 0.2% damage every 1dex+1str overcap means i just can get like 5% more damage with a full +25dex+25str caps true?, if so then seems like capping melee % bonus is the way to go and then try and get the more stats caps without gimping the template true? :p

Yes it's true, tests by, I think Vilna-perc, a SB have shown that overcap of 25 str gave him ~5% extra dmg. So us pierce shades, 25 str And dex for 5%. When you compare that to an item with +4% to both melee and style, you can see that it gives an equal amount of dmg increase if not more, but you did not have to use low util items with bonuses to str / dex caps, nor had to fill up the new caps with str or dex. Thus the most "template friendly" way to gain extra damage for Pierce users is to use items with toa bonuses to melee and style damage.

Applies not just with templates, but in RA choices too :) for a pierce spec shade MoP has better returns per RA points invested compared to aug str and aug dex, up to a certain point anyway (I think MoP4).

So yeah you've got the core idea now :)

In template 3, I've pushed up +% melee and style to 10% and then used the imbue points I saved to give myself 23 extra con and 104 extra hits. uses sun wep.

There's just 1 problem with using +% melee and style to max, and that is you dont raise your weaponskill with increases as you would have with +str/dex, but it's hard, or i'm too lazy, to test the effects of +25str/dex vs +10/10%s. So let's just not go there. :clap:

well time to work out new template then with this new perspective :p (i were always too worried about str/dex cap, so just will try and get them up but without gimp the rest :p), + have some nice templates where to start from with yours :p


sorry to sound too repetitive :p but thanks again for all the help i got in this thead, really helped me out :p
