I am with Plusnet but I am on the higher rate - Premier - (I think) so this won't affect me. I have noticed a few things about Plusnet lately though which is a bit disconcerting. The worse thing is the webspace they supposedly allocate to you - 250 MBs or something. When you try to set anything up though it is a total nightmare as they use very strange settings. I gave up the last time I tried. It is as if they have purposely made it practically non-workable so less people actually use the webspace. Also there are now a lot of providers offering a faster speed and for less money. Think I will be looking around shortly myself. Overall though my service is very rarely if ever down or I am offline. Can't remember the last time I had any cause for concern so presumeably that is well in Plusnet's favour. I just hope they haven't now grown much larger (I have been with them a few years) and are starting to lose the fairly good customer care that I have seen evident uptil now.

The webspace is ok, I have my webby running off their CGI webspace, with MySQL & PHP active.

And this won't affect me either, as I'm a Premier customer too.

But to me it seems as though PN can't handle the traffic over their network if they're doing this.

be wary of them for doing this, if they feel the need to kill idle connections, then they must be feeling the squeeze somewhere. Keep your eye for news, I'd say.

One more thing in their favour. They must be reading Freddys :) . Just upped my connection to 2mbs. Downloading at around 220kb sec - hell. Now where did I see them dodgy films and games? ;) .

Surely this won't matter if you have a dial-on-demand ADSL router.

Lucky you, I now get 10-15kbs download off Plusnet, oh what a short relationship this will be with them.

I have just requested my mac number off them and I am quite annoyed by the sudden shitness.

Freedom 2 Surf are meant to be the best ISP in the country at the moment and thats where I will be going.
