What do you think the playstation 4 will be like ?

Will it have a physical disc drive ?
Or will you download everything from the net ?
Fast, better, more powerful graphics capabilities, sure. Goes without saying.
Will it be the same size as the PSP ?

Kinda hard to imagine anything more powerful than the PS3 at the moment, but you can be sure they're already working it out now

Well there is still like 7 years until a PS4 might be released. By that time we'll have tech we do not have now. So i wouldn't put any guess on the specs.

Time from PS1 to PS2 release, 6 years.
Time from PS2 to PS3 release, 6-7 years

Which leads me to believe that the time from PS3 to PS4 release will be around 7 years.

PS3 will start pulling ahead of the 360 from 2008. People who are anti PS3 fanboys unite and bitch while you can.
Sony made the right pick in the format wars, and their system is superior.
Developers have admitted that the PS3 is harder to program for, since it's all new way of doing things. Hence the low output of good first generation games. But i'll bank my cash on PS3 comming out on top.

Everyone wants online ability, media pc's built into one aswell as a games console so its a given that they will get very ps-esque but you will never get the hassel that comes with the pc which is what defines a console. Pre-set hardware which developers can base their software on allowing them to tweak it to hell and back.
They have been pc-esque ever since the original xbox (you do realise the x comes form directx, which is also incidently the windows multimedia interface)

HDD in a console will win eventually
its already pulling ahead for example UT3 being moddable on the ps3
grand theft auto also was crippled because of the lack of hdd in the xbox as stated by the developers at E3

PS3 will start pulling ahead Q3/4 next year with very big titles such as FF, MGS, GT being release as sony exclusives

It is always funny seeing the 360 owners veignly trying to justify their purchase though

But for now i think i'll stick to my 360 although i do miss not having rachet and clank and i would have liked a go on little big planet

Sony's mistake was not releasing a budget version of the console like microsoft did on release

If they ever remade FF7 and had announced it whilst they were bringing the console out i think they woulda pretty much destroyed the xbox. But the makers of FF have said many a times it's never gonna happen they just remake bits to show the capabilities of the ps3 etc.

Meh, I will end up buying a PS3 anyhoo for Final Fantasy 13 (If there's no 360 release planned ever), then i'll complete it and promptly sell it off, i've got no interest in MGS or any of the other flagship games being released on it.

The games that I actually want to play are already on the 360 as it is, why bother spending any more?

On the lineup for the PS3 next year there is only a single game I actually want to play and that doesn't warrant buying it in the first place but it's final fantasy, what the hey. It has been announced that there's no plans for it to be released on the 360 so far but I still feel that it will pop up at some point.

The fact that FF11 (The online version) has been released on the 360 indicates that Microsoft do have some rights to the FF series so it is possible there may be a port after ~1 year or so.

So i'll quite happily jump on my high horse and ask "Why the fuck should I buy a ridiculously overpriced george foreman grill?"

Not everyone downloads movies illegally, and there is a big difference between bluray/hd-dvd and normal dvd's.
Blockiness is very obvious on my tv (which is only 40", i imagine its even more evident on bigger screens), this is with scaling and my set on lower settings (720p)
The quality is noticably better in HD

You cant play blu ray discs, which have have big retailers behind it the same as HD-DVD.
If the titles you want are on blu ray, a ps3 is one of the cheapest players out there
If the titles you want are on HD-DVD, get a hd dvd drive and plug it into your pc/360

I have no alliegence to any console/brand, i have a wii because i wanted mario galaxy, i have a 360 because i wanted mass effect and i will likely buy a ps3 because i want mgs, ff and gt

Chodax, less fanboi'ism you cant use units as a justification one way or the other because you dont know what proportion is refurbs and replacements, i doubt micrsoft will ever release them either but im betting the number is a very big proportion. In comparison the ps3 looks, feels and is better made and manufactured to a higher quality but has its own set of drawbacks as we all know

ROFL!! Not a chance. The Wii has sold almst twice as many consoles in Japan. 360 isn't strong in Japan but worldwide the 360 is pushing 15 million consoles now, PS3? Not even 10 million yet. The PS3 isn't winning in ANY region, the 360 has outsold it almost 3 to 1 in the U.S. and around 1.5 to 1 in Europe.

Of much more significance though is the attach rate, for the last 9 months the 360 has had higher software sales than Wii and PS3 combined! Thats right, the 360 sells more games per console than any other console in history, Why? Because it has such a strong catalogue of titles and literally every month of 2007 we have had another top quality game which is something the PS3 can not claim. Even delaying the console release by a year hasn't given them enough time to get the games out and now all the PS3 fanbois are bleating 'it is all about Christmas 2008!'. Yep, the same people who said it was all about 'Christmas 2007' a year ago when they thought they would have new Metal Gear Solid, Gran Tourismo and Final Fantasy games.

Where are they?
