dude, that is the disk size. if you're going to be listening to a lot of music or watching a lot of films it may be an issue for you. I have a version which is a lot smaller, and I haven't noticed any issues.
PS3 lets you use whatever harddrive you want to install later, you could whack a fastish TB drive in there if you really wanted ( from what I've read ).
Yup you can change hdd at any point (its mentioned in the manual iirc)
i did come accross this article the other day, couple months old so i dont know if anythings changed since, but makes me wonder if there is anypoint to actually buy films on the ps3 now.
Some of the console offers with the slim 250gb model look better value, but you can also still pick up the 80gb model and save some £ notes if you are not concerned about having the slim line model.
I have the 80GB model and use it as a Freeview PVR and I ususally have around 10-20GB free even when I've got a rake of programs still to watch. I could probably do with a bigger drive, but that should at least give you an indication on what you might need.
I've got the 60GB version and never gone over 50% capacity, even with 4-5 games installed. I prefer to stream video from my PC rather than have the video files on the PS3 itself.
Get yourself the 120GB version and consider upgrading the drive to a larger capacity one at a later date.
Got the 250gb version with Assassins Creed 2 myself. Only bought the damn thing (+ 42" tv) so I could play GT5.
As far as I can tell 250gb is the equivalent of a server farm on a PS3 (unlike a PC where it's the equivalent of having to use a 486).
& before the neysayers arrive - I'm a console noob, I have no idea about consoles & all I want is to play GT5 'cause I used to enjoy GT & GT2 when I was a young whipper snapper so I don't care if I bought the wrong console / model / got the wrong free game or generally made an epic fail of gigantic proportions.
Props to anyone who can tell me a decent game other than GT5 on the PS3 mind (though not FPS as I've got a PC for that thank you very much).
+1 here for WipeoutHD. It's one of the reasons I bought the console in the first place.
Devil May Cry 4 is also fun for a bit of sword/fighting.
I also really like Mirror's Edge, but I'm in a minority for that one.

Yeah Mirrors Edge is a fantastic game, got it on the PC hoping people would make more levels, there are a few not much cop. I got the Mega Drive Collection for my dad for xmas for his PS3, hes discovered the PSone shop after a year of not knowing there was an online bit, I showed him the other day and has prolly downloaded a load of games by now.
Even though I don't own a PS3, the prices in the PSN store seem better priced than the live marketplace.
