A guide through camelot Shrouded Isles, a personal reflection
These are the duo’s i used to do my adventuring in the beautifull realm off albion, mainly shorouded isles; sorc+cleric, necromancer+cleric
Shrouded isles, the isles where Morgana and her kin try to invade the the main land from their fortress , Caer sidi. Keep lord Apocalypse, god of death and decay, guarded by The four horsemen and several Key lords that protect every step of the way.
The lamian, Ogres, Orcs, Drakorian,Chaotic contructs are all clans that household in these forgotten lands. Lamian and Orcs have their personal war. Ogres don’t like the orcs either. There seems to be a diplomatical truce between ogres and the lamian creatures. This form the basics for tons of wild, wierd fenomena.
Why sorc and bufbot?
Well, easy to explain. Ther is one thing that a sorc can have what others can’t, a lvl 50 pet. Buff that beast with a 50 enhance cleric , the AF will go through the roof and that thing becomes verry tough.. I also used a Necromancer with a buffbot and there is one huge advantage to that duo. The damage shield will make sure that all aggro will remain on the necromancer pet. In the case of a sorc-based duo, the healer will have to have a lot of knowledge to stay out of aggro. Remember , if the cleric dies, both die. This because you will be dealing with loads of mobs or loads of high level mobs at the same time.
A couple off baff-code rules
Eiter you Duo or you play in a Full Group. All things in between are just there to cause trouble and incomplete group-structures. A duo counts as a single enemy-mob when pulling, if it comes to equal leveled or higher leveled monsters. Lower level monsters will add with +1or2 on the main pulled mob. As soon as you go for tree or more ppl in the group you wil get +1 add for each member there is or more (varried by the level of the mob, the higher to fewer mobs will add off-course) . There can be a variance to this theorie because there can be only one mob near you, or the secondairy mob is to far away from the first. But generally this will be the case as discribed.
Healing, the utmost important part in succeeding. First off all , never heal before the enemy has been damaged for a decent ammount of damage. To lower risk of getting aggro, distant yourselfe from the pet.. Range is usefull for something. Never heal for more then the caused damage from pet. Aggro is verry delicate. Therefore, i find an 50 enhance Speedhealer a million times more usefull then an ordenairy stupid rejuvenation cleric. As soon as that idiotic rejuvenation cleric presses one button the whole zerg goes for him.....he heals tooooo hard. Howerver there is one point where this aggro swap can be usefull... You can, however, deliberatly draw aggro from your other player to your cleric, if he can stand a lot of hits. This will give the other player a chance of regaining controll over the situation.
General pet listing for shrouded isles, tested pets.
Lvl 50 pets
There are a couple of healer pets around on Si, The drakorian archiator is one of them. Healer pets are fun to use if you don’t have a BB. They will either give you base buffs, or spec buffs. There is one huge problem with using these pets. If you are using a buffbot the pet will try to override the buffs that are currently active.. That will result in a continuous spamm off buff attempts. This will slow down reaction time from the pets and that can’t be tolerated if you fight. If aggro would go to the Sorc and you suffer high damage, the pet will try to heal instead of fighting the mob to regain aggro from it. This healing is slow and to low. To put this type of pets to the best use... you would need to duo and be the backup, put pet on passive and use the healing and buffs... (for exemple a sorc and pally duo, mincer pally combo)
The best pet’s are offensive pets... different types of drakorians are usable.
Another funny type of pet to use are the avalonian apparitions and kin (fell gheist etc..) These pets have a life drain or Dd attack which will make sure the pet keeps aggro and keeps them alife longer. A fully buffed avalonian apparition is able to do the same thing as a cabalist does vs green cons... afk killing, well, semi – afk, cause the dice-rolls can be verry bad from time to time.
The best pet in Shrouded isled would be the Scorcher.... it is possible to obtainattain a lvl 50 version of this pet but it will take a while to find it. If you do, i can guarantee you tons of fun. This pet can be used from lvl 48+. Buff this pet up, give it a heal proc... and test it. You will soon find out what i mean J.
This pet is SHEER FUN and ik clears the highest level ghosthouses alone with ease J
The secret of this pet lies not in the level of enemies, but in THE NUMBER of enemies. Test it J
What to hunt and why?
Shouded isles can be considered as Crafters-paradise. Most of the loot and stuff farmed can be salvaged an recycled into Skills. Chaotic constructs have the highest rate of material drop, it does take some work to obtain stuff with all the salvaging needed, but it is worth it. You can obtain LGM level this way without buying one piece of hardware from a merchant. You salvage, recraft the stuf through orange con level of products, sell them to merchants... et voila.... tons of cash.. instead of begging to your guild for crafting funds J
Xp wise a Sorc with a scorcher is the fastest PL’er in albion. Give the Sorc that realm abbility to lower the pet-leeching-xp-value, and you will be able to level two characters faster then two necros with one character each. Even with a BB grouped in that group to heal the pet. The xp / kill isn’t that huge, not worth mentioning, but the number off kills in that time period is tripple or quadruple the kills an orange con pulling necromancer can do. This puts this combo way above our so called gods of PL, the necromancer. (putting necros out of business here J that SS necro pl’er for real life cash for sure J)
Main reason for me writing this is a feeble attempt to blow some life back into the isles. To tell the new players in here that TOA is nice and sweet, but the second expansion really is worth every € you payed for it. I would love to see more ppl roam, like in the early days... There is an even bigger advantage to go hunt on the isles, there won’t be a lot off camping anymore J So the special mobs (tons of them) are for the grasp, they still drop the same stuff which isn’t bad. And try to get the ppl that are in Avalon City outside of that hole. I would love to awaken the PVE adventurers blood in the new players, so they don’t follow the Old players , rvr junks, through the turbo path of xp’ing. Would be fun to see someone get a 100+ Caer sidi raid up again... finally to kill Apoc again. PPl roaming everywhere, seeing the beautifull scenery there is to be seen... Verry nice pieces of programmed art out there J
Well, that ‘ll be it. If anyone would have any question or something... feel free to ask. If i can i will help out. To be continue...
This is a pre-text, i may not be verry solid atm, just writing thoughts. Eventually would result in a better site then VOS for TOA;-) well, at least i hope.
To explore albion, is to love it, to give it a reason to fight for and defend it.
Cheers J
