I can't believe the price of a bag of crisps. About 15 years ago they were 15p a packet. Look at em now. Some are in excess of 40p a bag. And don't get me started on Mars bars. FFS i don't know what this country is coming to.

Anyone wanna come protest outside the newsagents with me?

The thing is, look at inflation over 15 years. The price of a packet of crisps has doubled but inflation has only gone up 40% or less during that period. The extra price rise is directly down to fuel price pressures on the haulage industry.

The annoying part of all this is that fuel prices have indeed gone up but the tax on fuel has gone through the roof and it accounts for the bulk of the price rise at the pump.

You all get fleeced in the Uk and probably Europe at large. I never realised just to what extent till i moved to Qatar. I can fill up my car (Toyota Prado with a double tank) for under twenty quid (almost 160 litres me thinks).

The government is raking in billions of pounds off motorists and wont stop as they are using the excuse that they are trying to encourage people to use alternative modes of transport, without spending on a decent alternative (unless public transport has changed drastically in the last couple of years i been away).

All a big Con. Petrol should be at least 50-60p per litre cheaper then what people pay at the pump but i guess that the average person in the UK doesnt understand that the government is selling a barrel of oil that they purchase for $95 to the public for over $200 with the taxes they stick on it.

I think the average person in the UK knows this only too well.

we know it but can do f'all about it, the same reason i buy my train ticket from a monkey behind a screen who cant even manager to press the right button (seriously "Train to paddington + zone 1 on the underground return please", how hard is that to comprehend) making me miss 2 trains and be an hr late for work while i wait for a refund witghout even an apology, although since it is a primate i didnt expect one.
Then sit on a delayed, packed train on a useless distributed transport service where no one party can be blamed, driven by an equally useless train driver who is doing a unskilled job for almost as much money as i earn.
Then repeat the process for the tube (although in fairness the tube has improved immensly since Livingston got into power)
and repeat the process on the way home

Yes im bitter

Tbh i don't think that is very fair. It's not easy to become a train driver and you have alot of peoples lives in your hands.

(assuming you are refering to when the train drivers wanted more money because they had peoples lives in their hands like airline pilots)

Noes, not another one!

Someone in our clan suffers from bitterness as well, we've narrowed the cause down to eating too many lemons. If you stop eating them you should be right as rain within a couple of days :D

Used to play DAOC with a train driver.

becoming_a_train_driver

Check that out for an interview process!

Train driving does not require any high academic achievement
It's a non-skilled job, you dont need formal qualifications to do it and 29 very padded out weeks (3 weeks for a introduction to the enviroment lol?), which technically you could just sleep through as your not tested on if that site is accurate (or i missed), and one real assesment (driving test)

My heart bleeds
If they want to be compared to pilots, they arent allowed to be behind the "wheel" of the plane without 600 hours of flight time of which 100 hours should be in a multi-engine airplane, and thats after the years of training (4 year degree, then a liscence for all the types of plane you want to fly)

I have one for inside london, but my train station doesnt accept them so its a mainline ticket (first great western) to paddington, then oyster to euston square (zone 1)

You get a student discount on the oyster which is always good, but dont for mainline
I managed to swing it so i can come into work late so i get offpeak fares, but you need to buy the ticket everyday as every weekly/monthly/annual ticket is priced onpeak
so in reality it is cheaper for me to buy one everyday off peak than it is to buy a monthly travel card

what you getting? :d

Your probably gonna come looking for me !!

Fiesta, nothing special :p

Someone mentioned about public transport, its fucking terrible, I HATE getting the bus, I waited 45 minutes this morning for the bus to get to work. They put bus times up, but whats the point, they are never on time.
