Its 12:30am on the 22nd boxing day of my life, I've not slept properly in what seems like an age, and i've had far too much southern comfort, so this probably qualifies as a drunken rant post, wey :\

Does anyone else become very profound in these situations? I always seem to.

Endless times I've almost made a post like this, written out pages and pages, "spilling my guts" so to speak, then I re-read it and modify it, sometimes for hours, untill its perfect, then I hit the 'X' in the top right corner, deleting the post completely.

Seems to be therapeutic, ranting to myself, knowing that whatever I write here is one click away from being published on the net, in full view of a community of people that I have a certain respect for - I always try to collect my thoughts properly so that they are understandable, even if I've never actually posted any of these before.

Its good for me in a way, the only people I have every really opened up to are my parents, but lately they have been so strained by family issues that I worry that talking to them would place even more strain on them, so for a while I've not spoken to anyone, and its started to become a habit. I'm starting to prefer not talking to anyone, or rather 'talking to myself', keeping my thoughts private and collecting them every now and again by typing things out, then erasing whatever it is i've written(I'm half tempted to delete this post also... I dont know why but the idea of opening up seems somehow wrong atm :\).

Whats it like for other people? I often wonder if anyone else have a way of dealing with these things like this, i mean someone must do, or if they all either have someone they talk to or just dont like opening up, like i'm starting to become.

If i feel like ranting, i usually go to the Talons Reach forum.
used to do it in the SoN forum too back in the days. When that was still going :p
I would do it here.. but tbh. I'd get perma banned for those rants :p

I usually whine to myself in my head, mentally play out movies about what I am whining about and cry ^^

Or some lucky person on MSN gets to hear about it. Used to talk to my friends in college but they just can't keep their gobs shut so I do instead :p

More tired than drunk in a way. If I'm proper drunk I struggle with anything more than sleeping or throwing up :)

Basically what I was trying to say is do you tend to find yourself becomming more profound when you are tired and/or slightly drunk?

and if so how do you react when you are in that mood? do you find you have to talk to someone? do you keep everything to yourself? or find a half way point like Commandment (and me i guess).

I waffled on a bit though and didnt state my point very clearly :D I usually write something like that then delete it and don't post it. I dont know why I actually posted that one, must be more tired than i thought :)

please do more :D:D:D:D I usually buy a movie when I need to talk to someone, because movies always say it better ;o and then when you wanna have an argument you can just fast forward to the lovers tiff seen and start blarring off at them like nobody's done before! I don't care if what they say back doesn't make sense, it just means I can shout at them more!

It's weird for me because I find it incredibly hard to open up to my parents. I'd prob say we don't share as strong a relationship as other families do.

Tht said, the person I can best open up to. Probably my gf. I'm happy to open up to a certain extent online or whatever, but I don't feel comfortable in going into too much detail about it. People judge you by what they read - sad situation that it is.

Sometimes it's nice to be able to let something go, or hope to try to shift a burden on yourself.

But very personal things should stay with someone you trust undyingly.

i think you think your becoming more profound when your drunk because it is a depressent and tbh people tend to feel their thoughts/emotions are deeper and more serius when in a darker mood (just look at poetry, paintings etc for examples of this).

People have this bizzarre tendancy to view anything thats depressing as being mroe serious, i.e. a painting of a dark stormy coastline with a ship about to be smashed to bits on jagged rocks someone will think "omg the artist must have been feeling in some turmoil to have painted that!" but you look at a golden pic of fields and summer sun and you just think aw thats nice, people dont often think "wow i wonder what made the artists view this scene so brilliantly and to see all that beautiful view must have been amazing!".

Its something that bugged me in english class we're doing poetry and all the dark depressing stuff about how love kills you and makes you cry and stuff theres soo much of it! and then when we read one of shakesperes sonnets (personal fave "let me not") its seen as kitch and a bit silly, and tbh this really pisses me off just because someone is happy doesnt mean their thoughts or opinions are any less deep or serious, and generally happy people dont tent to analyse their thoughts or (in the case of several depressing drunks ive known in my time) inflict their thoughts on others then puke up on their shoes.

when your drunk its like walking about with a pair of high res binoculars stapled to yur eyes, thinks seems all out of proportion, when your sober you see things for what they are and know not to make a big deal out of them.

wow hehehe i id me a lil rant myself there didnt i? and im not drunk either! only had a bit of christmas pud was the only alcohol i had this christmas so there ner :p
