Luxury ocean liners in Russia are offering pirate hunting cruises aboard armed private yachts off the Somali coast

Wealthy punters pay £3,500 per day to patrol the most dangerous waters in the world hoping to be attacked by raiders.

When attacked, they retaliate with grenade launchers, machine guns and rocket launchers, reports Austrian business paper Wirtschaftsblatt.

Passengers, who can pay an extra £5 a day for an AK-47 machine gun and £7 for 100 rounds of ammo, are also protected by a squad of ex special forces troops.

The yachts travel from Djibouti in Somalia to Mombasa in Kenya.

The ships deliberately cruise close to the coast at a speed of just five nautical miles in an attempt to attract the interest of pirates.

"They are worse than the pirates," said Russian yachtsman Vladimir Mironov. "At least the pirates have the decency to take hostages, these people are just paying to commit murder," he continued.

Actually i don't think they put them through hell, but considering nancyponsy people who get hostaged, aren't used to those conditions. They're actually putting them through somali life.

I always think people who say "if we sink to their level we're no better than them" have been watching to many movies. Being nice and justified sadly doesn't work in the real world, it's human nature for some people to be c**ts (human trafficers should be slowly dismembered in a vat of lemon juice and salt). These pirates for example, some of them need the money for food, but when they start demanding millions of $ in the face of a military response, that sounds more like greed to me.

The thing is it's a minority of uncivilised bunch of Somalis that are the pirates and aren't doing it for the food they are doing it for the millions of dollars they can get for a boat and in my opinion it's just plain fucking greedy.

IF instead of handing out money ransoms they said we want food the world might take some notice instead because they are wanting MILLIONS nobody gives a fuck.

But who gets to decide when it's time for that ultimate, ultimate, ultimate last resort. Laws and such will only work so far, sometimes a small incentive of 'you may dodge the legal process, you may get away with it once or twice, but if you keep at it one day someone as evil as you will give you a taste of your own medicine.'

In this particular case, a group of people who are capable of such evil have decided to give the pirates a taste of their own medicine, more for their own pleasure than any form of justice I imagine. But in the process of such an evil deed they maybe saving many lives, so is it really such an evil deed?

Take for example the recent executions of British hostages in the middle east. Many have criticised our government for not negotiating with the hostage takers. The problem is if you give in to demands once they're going to try it again. So a no ransom policy is shit for the poor guy who was executed but may have saved many British lives because the hostage takers now no they won't get anything from the British government for British hostages. For the countries who did pay a ransom they may have condemed some of their own countrymen.
