How's Pipex performing now? Last I heard about it was last year when loads of people were moaning about it being oversubscribed.

Oh and best WPKenny-Cam pic in ages :)

It's great. When Damini's not downloading god knows how many episodes of ER all at once I generally have the lowest ping on the server. (Q3, IGI2 etc)

Its generally a rule of business that you charge what people are prepared to pay.

I'm on pipex, have been for 18 months, it's the fucking dogs at £23.44 a month with no activation fee and the ability to quit at any time.

There was a bit of a prob last year where there was problems with MTU settings where you couldn't seem to download any more than 8/10Kbytes in a single session, but you could open 5 seperate 10 Kbyte sessions to saturate the connection. This has since (obviously) been fixed and was a BT fault as opposed to pipex.

I've paid for the upgrade (£36 i think it was) to 1 megabit and have received my confirmation email saying it should be tested and upgraded the early hours of tomorrow woo!

1 megabit not bad for ~£28 a month.

Additionally, I referred three people in a 12 month period, so i saved three months line rental which equates to paying £17.58 per month for ADSL.

Pings are solid and low, download speeds are ~57 Kbytes per sec.

I couldn't recommend them more strongly.

Where did you get that from? Their site quotes £33.99 per month.

Anyone on ZEN can also get the 1 meg line for £34 a month...which is very tempting

That lower price is for the people who were already on Pipex and requested the upgrade.

Anyone else apart from Big G got a confirmation email actually giving a firm date of the upgrade? All I've got is what I posted above saying the order's been sent to BT now and I have to wait for them to process it.

Yeah exactly. I think it only stays at £28 a month for a limited number of months, then it will probably go up in price.

My current status on my order is:

Thank you for ordering a service regrade from your current service to PIPEX Xtreme Solo 1000. You can use this page to track the status of your regrade request.

Your regrade order has been processed by PIPEX and was forwarded to BT on 13/10/2003 for final line checks and the regrade work to be scheduled.

I also received email confirmation from them. I expect the 1 megabit to be up and running by Friday latest, pending final line checks.

Further to your order to regrade your PIPEX Xtreme ADSL service, we are pleased
to inform you that BT have informed us that your order has been received and has
been processed. Your line will be tested by BT during the next few days to ensure
your telephone line is suitable to support the service you have ordered.

Assuming the tests are successful an estimated date for your upgrade work to be
carried out will be set by BT. However, BT are unable to inform us of the exact
date when your regrade may take place. We anticipate that BT will endeavour to
complete your upgrade if possible in the next 7 to 10 days.

Please note that in many cases regrade orders have to be manually processed
by both BT and PIPEX, specifically while the service is in trial, and as such
status updates can sometimes be delayed. In some cases it is even possible that
BT may carry out your service regrade before providing PIPEX with a date for
the work.

To see the latest information PIPEX have about your regrade we would advise all
regrade customers to monitor the Order Status page which can be found on our
website at http://www.xtreme.pipex.net/adsl/sales/order-status/

In the mean time when we do receive confirmation of your activation date we will
still email you to finally confirm your new subscription details and your new
billing date.

DOUBLE YAY!!!
