Standard spec for shield champ
Piercing 39
Shield 42
Valor 50

Or is LW still the only good option?

And are there any +pierce items (other then weapons) usable by champs?

Large Weapon really is your only option, the shield won't save
your ass that much and you will hit for a lot harder, but if you DO
want to make a S/S champion, you would'nt directly suck, but
remember that the str/con buff you get does'nt buff dex, and
peircing is mainly dex based.

If ytou so wish, make a blunt/shield champion.

Pierce styles are also based on evading, blunt is based on blocking. Don't pick pierce when you're a tank, ever.

Ask Ilaya if you want to know if shield/blunt is any good, she's a luri hitting with lollypops :p I'm very happy with my own LW champ, very effective in BG. Template I used is 24 Valor, 21 LW, 10 parry.

dont listen to these peeps =)

imo take pierce higher than valour, maybe to 50. with the 4 style chain and your naturally high dex and qui you will perform this a chain a lot for great one hand damage, better than any other styles in hib.

48 pierce
42 shield
42 valour

looks great to me. no need to go above 42 for the 2nd to last set of all valour stuff. got slam of course, and rest points into pierce for some damn nice dmg too =)

Pierce is str/dex, it's 50/50 not mostly dex based.

Pierce has ONE evade based move, champs do have evade and diamondback is useful but it's not the only reason to go for pierce, for tanks it's the anytime 4 move chain.
Of course by tanks I mean blademasters or had you forgotten that one :p
Think people should go for whatever they enjoy most, they all have their merits and flaws afterall, lets not become like the yanks, obsessed with front loaded damage.

A typical thing is, slow attacks doing max dmg in the first hit because fights don't last that long, my arse, in full on zergage possibly never even get a style off! But the rest of the time my grps druid and my end bar can run on empty, for that I need dmg over time, any tank who goes for weapon and shield may never ever do much dmg but have an anytime stun, its the main reason to use a shield in rvr, not the weapon you spec in.

was a joke, right? :)

ps: LW = wtg. blunt/shield might b an option, not as powerful but different playstyle... maxing valor = v.important. 50valor 42shield 39blunt or so was the template...

Mr brothers playing a luri pierce/shield hero on the US co-op server. Best goddamn blocker you've ever seen. Putting guard on your main tank is like giving them god mode.

And for comedy value seeing her do the CS parry-trigger style, with the backflip, will have anyone laughing their tits off.

It ticks off dex more often elerand.
I know it says 50/50 str/dex but that is not correct.
I could bring up some URL's but I'm too lazy :p

But choose what weapon you want, everyone is of use.
The 42 stun attack will still be there to aid you.

And I can't see why block ratio has anything to do with piercing Spudge?
And 7 votes is'nt exactly great.
It's better than the other 1h styles tho, but for a champion, do blunt.

WEll the URL would be great since I've been searching for about an hour and can't find anything anywhere that suggests 50/50 is incorrect :)
Block is dex dependant, so obviously a luri is a good choice for a shield user and for parry too.
Off the top of my head my lvl 42 warden with 11 parry has less success than my lvl 30 luri LW champ who has 10 parry vs yellow con mobs :p

I did notice the percentage vs actual votes is a bit off to say the least, maybe it's not showing the votes correctly since I voted and it never added one to the vote total.

I rate blunt for shield users, I respecced my hero to celtic spear, detested it and luckily had a chance to respec *cough* to blunt, love it, just need a really good blunt but it's nice dng compared to blade/shield, the only trouble with slow blunts is this, reactionary styles can be interrupted by fast attacks, a long stun (9secs) off a parry for example is no use if you hit stunning blow after a parry only to be hit again, which is you fail to parry ruins the style.

I do advocate fast attacks, simply because with good weapons it adds up nicely in a relatively short time + more styles, crits, procs.

Go blunt though, it's a nice spec and sort of feels right for a shield tank.

er loff.

the topic was "pierce/shield lurikeen champion " so i gave my opinion on the best way to spec a "pierce/shield lurikeen champion" not say that the poster should be LW =)

imo i would choose celt LW, but shield/pierce luri could be fun.

Thanx for inputs

The only thing im qurious about is -Why Blunt?

Is it because of the higher base damage (slower weapon) even if the styles imo stinks (at least for a 39 weapon and 6 parry spec) compared to both Blades and Piercing?

Or is the armor type of Mids and Albs the reason?

blunt styles royally suck, you will be using the taunt style. blunt is worse primary damage type than pierce too imo. as the key people you will want to kill as a tank are: Healer, Cleric, Minstrel and mages- and oh look 3 of them are weak to thrust :)

I believe I dug up some info about this when I was rolling my NS back in US version but things may have changed?
Sorry for the misunderstanding :)

And what a good looking moose Spudgie LOL :D
