I've actually been watching all the Tom and Jerries with my son. The quality becomes very mixed after Fred Quimby leaves, even though it's still Hanna-Barbera. Not far off getting to the Gene Deitch episodes :/

indeed. the old T&J, BB, etc were a large part of my childhood. very recently I had the misfortune to watch a post-Quimby era T&J and it was dire

although it really was the Tex Avery/Quimby/Jones three-way that brought the magic.
