How do i get phpBB to work on barrysworld? someone help please..
it was easy on f2s because its easy to create a database there, but how do i get it to work on BW? help..

hhmm, i know nothing about the board, but if you're saying it requires a database, then u cant get one fro BW. look around on this board, there's a linkee to a free MYSQL server somewhere

I have the same problem.

How far have you got??

I managed to do the: chmod a+w config.php

I am running the Installer and I dont know what to put in these fields:
Database Server Address:
Database Name:
Database User name:
Database Password:

I have tried many things.
i am now stuck

I haven't used these script thingys, but as far as I can remember the details should be:

DB address: localhost
DB name: name of your site
DB username: ftp username (afaikr)
DB password: ftp password (afaikr)

If your site is: hosted.barrysworld.com/blah

"blah" is the DB name.

DB address has to be localhost (or 127.0.0.1) as BW don't allow remote connections to their DB's as far as I know.

barrys dont support databases, you'll have to use a DB host if you need a DB!

Er, I (well a league) have a mySQL DB with them.

Why not use Freesql.org for maintaining the MySQL DB and BW for hosting the script?

Also, my mysql-based board will be out soon along with my non-mysql one!

freesql.org can be quite slow at times.

Yes well it can be, at times but hopefully soon it will be more reliable, but then again its free.

So why use BW? Use F2S if it's so cool at all...
