after the flight over to ye olde UK my trusty Nokia no longer seems to boot up. It just sits at the "NOKIA" screen and doesn't get to the point where I input my keycode.

I've reseated my battery and chip and stuff, but no joy.

Any ideas?

How long are you down for teedle poos?

And on topic: There are a thousand and one phone shops in London, look for the little independent ones with a guy and a laptop, and they should be able to have a look at your phone for not a lot at all. If you want to play it safe then find a Carphone Warehouse and ask them where the nearest Nokia repair centre is, but they tend to want the phone overnight.

Pulling your battery is only a soft reset leave it out overnight for a full hard reset. Or there are keypress combos that reset hardware, Power Button * and another key i think. Would be worth double checking for your phone and also seeing if it wipes the memory or just does a hardware reset.

If it's a nokia, there's normally a label on it near the sim.

I've got a 6120c, nice light little phone.

Anyways, at it's series 60:

Hold the call key, 3 and * simultaneously while turning phone on. – Allows a hard reset to be performed if the phone hangs or an error message is displayed while booting.

This will however most likely rub everything. I'd try hooking it up to a PC first, that used to sort out my old N70 when it went a bit funny.

I took the memory card out, and did a vulcan death grip as you said. To my vast surprise the phone now works again. All texts and contacts gone but not the pictures strangely enough. anyway, I had a backup from ooh....late 2008 :)

actually the texts being gone is prolly a good thing too.
