It's sometimes cheaper to run a car than get public transport in the long run anyway, but you can't really get public transport from say london to wales for a fair price can you?! Hence - Caaaaaar.

I hope someone gets a pretty hefty bomb and sticks it in your wanky MGF and blows you and it up. Mostly because MGF's are a hairdressers car driven by people called.... Pauline (which is your real name innit Exor! Creative eh? Heh )

If you saw 'Driven' on Tuesday night then you will have seen the hairdresser car get a good going over by Jason Plato and the two hosts. It was pitted against the MX5 and the MR2, which both gave it a thrashing and showed it how it should be done. It was the slowest, worst handling, ugliest, heaviest ragtop out of the three. And they described it as a hairdressers car!!

On the petrol thing, I require my car for my work, it is not possible to do my job using public transport, I whole-heartedly back the protestors. The motorist has been used as a scapegoat for far too long. I just got rid of one of my cars, when I bought it just under five years ago unleaded was about 39.9p per litre. That is a ridiculous hike in the price to todays level.

Oil is like the decay from dead plants and animals and stuff, and like sea mammels, that have like died ages ago ( millions of years ) and have kinda gone all goooey and oiley. The ground then swirls around and layers up and this oil groups together under it. It isnt a natural substance formed by the earth, and it wasnt just there when the earth was created, its from dead living things

right, now thats sorted

facts:

98% of C02 emmisions are from the forests, the volcanos, and the other "natural" things, and from power stations and stuff like them ( i think ) ONLY 2% ARE FROM CARS, IF THAT

so this leads me onto WHY do people say the car kills etc etc etc, i do agree the roads mess the world up, but the pollution is nothing compared to the grand scale of things. Oh and also, when the oil does run out ( 30 years, LOL, you really think the gov would tell you the truth about how much oil there is ) there will still be oil left for like oiling nots, and bearingsa and things, synthetic oil is MADE

so, therefore the god known as ME has rendered all your pethtic eco protests over

Hey exor, m8, i have driven the top of the range BMW, top of the range MONDEO and a PUG 306 with all the trimmings, and to be honest, i way prefer my nova, why ?

well, you aint surrounded by tonnes of muppet conforts and it feels more responsive because its a damn side more basic car, and if you can drive, then you dont need all those muppet things, caus youll prefer basics, like porches and stuff, caus they are real basic cars

Now speaking as someone who fails to get brainwashed by Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and other hoardes of the unwashed, sorry "environmental groups", I have to say that that is the biggest load of old horse shit I have ever heard in my entire life. They estimate that cars produce about 24% of the emissions in the UK, with the main producers being power stations etc. Now this highlights a typical Labour policy. Instead of going after the hard traget which would take years to fix, we shall go after the easy one. And in another typical Labour moment, its the motorist. After reading recently some of the stuff I have read, the environmental argument holds even less water with me than it used to.

Now main rant over. Time for some mini rants.

Frankie. Nova SR's are shit. End of. Ive driven a fair few cars in my time (fully comp insurance is the best ), ranging from a 14 year old Fiesta, through a 125,000 mile Fiat Uno, to a brand new VW Golf, all the way to a BMW 5-series. I have also driven a Nova SR. With the possible exception of the fiesta, the Nova was the worst car by a country mile. Underpowered, undergripped, heavy noisy piece of shit that should have been consigned to the scrapyard. Shame it had only done 10,000 miles. Direct feeling of control? LOL Direct feeling of lack of control more like. Also did you know it was possible to break into and start any Nova with half a tennis ball?

Now MGF's. I'm not going to do the pauper thing here and call them shit, as they are obviously quite nice cars, they're just not to my taste. I personally find the shape a little bland, and having spoken to someone who has driven one, they sound like a nightmare to drive aswell. I also have a major thing about British cars. Our family had 2 Maestros and a Montego back in the 80's. So I guess its fairly understandable. Still they're not as bad as French cars.....

Last one. Ch@meleon. On a personal note, I find you're rant even less easy to take seriously with your admission "I am both a driver and a smoker". To me that smacks of "Do as I say not do as I do" which is a natural trait of the moral high ground which you seem to occupy.

all i have is my own experiance with cars, a BMW, a NOVA, and a mondeo, now while the mondeo and the BMW are brill cars, i just find them too err, cosy ?

the nova i find is good. I find it fast, faster than the 136 BHP mondeo that we have, not the BMW, but its deffo more nippy. I like a simple basic car, maybe not for going long distances, but for going about town, what else you need ?

i suppose its personnal taste in the end, when ya young you like fast nippy small cars, when ya older you prolly want a big cruiser sorta car

Tis too easy to slag a certain car off based on your opinions... from my experience, in a lowered and stiffened nova SR, it was impressive considering the cost. Nippy, excellent roadholding yet a slightly bouncy ride which you'd expect if it's so low (-60mm) but there ya go. I liked it, I don't like the fiat cinqecento @ all (i have no idea how it's spelt, sorry) but ya know, if you like 'em then thats cool...

Well, firstly I think the protest did a hell of a lot towards this issue. Whether or not the government chooses to change their policy as a consequence of these events is not important at the moment. The fact is that as a protest, this one was very effective, mainly because it was large-scale and well organised. It's very likely that this isn't the last we've heard from the protesters, because they remain a threat to the government. And best of all, they made Labour look like a right bunch of tossers.

The environmental issues aren't very important. The sad fact is that even if fuel costed more, the planet will still be shafted in 30 years time. I'm more concerned about where exactly this money is going. If it's really going to the health service, that's fine.

But anyway, what I found more interesting about the crisis was the way the change affected the whole country. Seriously, if several crises like this happened all at once, chaos. The army would move in. Imagine Britain as a dictatorship. Not so hard, is it? Anarchy would be more interesting. But then you'd get the fucking Americans sending in their dodgy, clumsy, heavy-handed "peacekeeping" force to chuck a load of bombs on us in the name of world harmony.
