Why is this guy being treated like a hero by most Pompey fans? Surely as the bloke in charge when the club was MASSIVELY spending beyond it's means he should be shouldering the blame for what looks like financial doom for a good club. Am I missing something?

Yeah, you are missing something. The previous owner suddenly and abruptly stopped putting money into the club. From January onwards Storrie has been keeping club alive and running.
