Anyone seen the new Ricky Gervais live DVD? Part of me thinks it would be hilarious, the other part, not so much.

Peter Kay's great. The Blackpool tower video is pretty funny but Phoenix Nights has me crying with laughter every time.

Steve Coogan used to be good but his new series of Alan Partridge is really weak.

He's quite funny each to their own though. I mean a lot of people hail Ricky Gervais(sp?) as a comedy Genius and the saviour of British Comedy. I dont like him though.

IMHO Rowan Atkinson would lash them all with his Sharp Blackadder wit though

Dammit there's a Blackadder quote I adore that I'm always whipping out, but right now I can't remember it...it's something he says to the people that come to buy his house in the epsiode "Money"

/edit: Aha - looked it up.

"Mr: You've really worked out your banter, haven't you?

Edmund: No, not really. This is a different thing. It's spontaneous and it's called `wit'."

The delivery on that is pure genius.

Blackadder is the apex of British comedy - certainly, despite their millions, Rowan Atkinson, Richard Curtis and Ben Elton have done nothing better since.

I really would like a car alarm that went "get back you bastard or I'll break your legs".
