Personal Web Server replacement

When I ran Win 98 I had personal web server installed. Not for any network usage, more because it provided a very nifty way of previewing websites with all images and code executed with working links.

I now have Win XP Home, which of course doesn't have it. Can anyone recommend a replacement? Ideally which will function with an ActivePerl installation and maybe PHP as well?

Thanks in advance,

I used to use Xitami when I used Windows (www.imatix.com iirc), or of course there is the windows build of Apache.

You could of course use IIS which comes with Windows.

On windows XP go to Add/Remove Programs in control panel, then under Windows Components there is an Internet Information Service checkbox. Check it and hit OK and it'll install it all.

Also if you have any problems with it
www.iisadministrator.com helps a lot and has a forum which people post on regularaly and usually help.

There really is _only_ one choice: Apache.

Apache is the daddy of web servers. I guess IIs would be the stillborn daughter... :/

Apache is cool, I downloaded and installed it today after seeing this thread and was surprised to see how easy it was. :)

(Thinks he's been using PWS for too long......)
