Dunno how many of you would like to see this, but if you've got the view then worth checking out this meteor shower in the small hours of the 12th and 13th of August.

If you've never been hit by a meteor how do you know they are real and it isn't just the advanced OLED skyroof ?

Annoying this. Unless you have an exceptionally clear night, they're very difficult to see anywhere in a populated area. Many years back I cycled up onto the moors and lay on my back at some stupid time in the morning to watch, and saw a few.

Certainly can't photograph them though. You could G - drive 50 miles or so and you're in the middle of nowhere.

The govt project images of a meteor shower on to the sky roof. If you get hit, its because they also send a plane up and a bloke throws rocks out. You cant see the plane though because it uses a bendy light emitter and blocks the engine sounds with egg cartons.

The Leonid shower in November 2002 was meant to be average but turned out to be more impressive than expected. I saw some of the best fireball meteors in my life (yes, actual trails left in the sky) and the full moon was at my back.

The moon is at quarter and while some people will think "Is that it?", seeing meteors every minute or so is impressive enough for me.

Cloud has gone and im seeing quite a few, the myterious very slow moving and very bright lights i often see in the sky in this area are back, im so used to seeing them i almost pay them no heed, still no idea what they are, very bright, and moving around the sky....odd

I fell asleep, woke at 2.30 and had a look for about 20 minutes.

Didnt see a thing even though the sky was clear and I could see the stars.

Not to mention some of them appear and disappear midflight, or even change directions on very rare occasions

Could well be satelites. youve got to remember that the earth rotates at about 1000mph at the equator and different relative speeds depending on your latitude. If the satelite isnt orbiting by a fixed position then it could appear to whizz across the sky.

I saw a few of them last night, and the disappearing and reappearing could be it spinning in orbit. One I saw flashed from north to south, the flashes were pretty bright.

Most most likely are, but some are just frekin weird in pattern, speeds etc.
