Im still quite surprised to see many tanks and front line dpsers attacking primary tanks and not going for their support and squishys.

just wondering does anyone else feel that they are banging their heads against the wall when they see this kind of tactics ?

Yea it's a huge pain, in tier1 I can understand it. A lot of players might be new to the game(and/or MMO in general) and not quite grasp everything yet.

But when you still get it in tier4, people jumping on the Iron Breaker thats stood next to the BW and RP.... :(

As a healer I just get frustrated as I'm the one they are whining at when they finally die as there's about 5 Bright Wizards each scenario standing there in the back, throwing their DoTs on everything in range.

Yet Witch Elves and Witch Hunters seem to be getting the idea of going for the weakest target out there.

It makes you wonder why the rest can't seem to get it. Is it the fact that they can't resist pulling a Dwarf's beard, or that they like to get kicked in the jibblies by those Orcs?

:m00:

Oh well, lets just wait for a bit of group versus group RvR to develope, hopefully that'll be less frustrating as a healer!

At what level range? It's a bit different from Tier 3 on.

AoE damage seems to be king, so when 3-4 enemy tanks are close and the enemy support is far off and spread out, I go for the tanks with all melee chars I have (Mara, DoK, Witch Elf) and hope that ranged DPS assists with AoE.

Other than that, in Tier 1 especially, with decent healing it is push forward and F8 kill or kill the one that is easiest to kill, squishy or not.

I have the bad feeling that at least on Orrud I play with and against a lot of 6 year olds and it's driving me crazy too. But I guess that's what we get for making and playing a game with instant AoE roots and dots and whatever and Mythic placing the game in the same market segment as WoW.

Open RvR seems to be empty when I play (18-24 CET) and scenarios are filled with gimps or FOTM-classes. When I play an underdog match and I know we're going to lose no matter what but I keep trying and then my morale abilities (like Severe Nerve) do not work and I die all the time without being able to finish someone off I'm asking myself why I don't play a round of Guild Wars random/team arena or a CoD4 match instead.

One more thing to add: I think much worse than attacking the supposedly wrong target is when everybody ventures off and attacks targets individually.

When 12 peeps focus fire on a Tank, he drops too.

You should youtube some of the 'RvR vids' that have recently been put together by people. You'll laugh your arse off at how ridiculously bad players are at their career.

There is a really interesting one where a Bright Wizard defends the Ostland T2 Keep near the Destruction Warcamp. I think he must have used one spell, stood still hugging his keep for about half the duration, and didn't bother to look for a squishy target.

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSADvLrydMM

That's the kind of Bright Wizard that starts running away when a Witch Elf just opened on him with Enfeebling Strikes. Ah well, freee arpeeez!

Its funny you mentioning broken Morale abilities Mani, I've yet to see my rank 3 with 7 second stun actually do anything - it certainly doesn't stun anyone.

EDIT: Back on topic - yeh people just hit what's near rather than what needs to be hit for the most part.

I find it more annoying in scenarios when tanks just run in and stay there to die whilst taking insane amounts of damage. I know they can take quite a bit of damage, but perhaps they might want to consider pulling back and pushing again once their health bar has recovered!

But imo its just as annoying when they start to try forsee this and start pulling back soon as they hit 90%! (Then ofc bringing the train of IB+WH with them who then see me healing...)

I play as a defensive spec'ed tank, I tend to fill two basic rolls:

Defending my teams softer targets.

Opening up gaps in the enemy line for others to use.

The first roll is easy enough since I only have to rely on myself, the second is more problematic.
I've lost count the number of times I've punched through to the enemy casting camp initially acting as a damage soak using "Hold The Line! & Can't Hit Me" often CC'ing and silencing those pesky healer's or ranged, only to turn my camera around and see every single melee player on my side piled on to a sword and board IB previously being spam healed by the very people I've just silenced :eek7:

Us squishies standing at the back have enough problems when healing our tanks and melee. Playing with fire springs to mind. :(

I on the other hand is surprised that you cant figure that one out, just like any other game ppl attack THE tanks never the support healers' or CC.

Nothing new and even in 5 years if the game exists there still be 80% still going for the tanks.

That is the BIG diffrence from ppl knowing how to play and clueless ones.

Yup Wish there was more DaoC people than WoW people, in most scenarios, tanks just rush out and attack nearest opposing tank, while BW and WH take out our whole support section and once we are dead they wonder why they dont get no healing.
And two other things that annoy me...since this is a voice your annoyance thread :)

1. If your a tank and pursues by 3 opponents dont run towards the healer healing you, because the folk following you will kill the healer, and then you get no heals.

2.IF you see a healer under attack by a Witchhunter give him a help and not just run past him and out of temple.

Thats is all :)

Well, even DAoC people attack tanks when healers are around. And it was a PUG problem in DAoC as well.

Perhaps not everybody is seeing everything - I know I've often myself missed a healer standing somewhere healing my target, and it wasn't until I saw the health bar move up that I figured it out :D
And some times it is beneficial to take out the tanks first, if you can bring them down fast, to thin out their ranks.

But it isn't just because WoW people play - it also existed in PUGs in DAoC. Many people were just used to running smaller groups in DAOC with higher degree of coordination I think.

Every scenario warband is different, but I agree most act as mindless lemmings, like never regrouping after mass wipes but going one by one or just not selecting targets smartly, or fighting in places that are an obvious disadvantage (too distant from spawn spots, too near lava in TA, overextended by the rest of the warband), and let's not even start with those not understanding that adding to a fight it's not just an option, it's an advantage ...

Problem is, when you're the only one going for squishies you're also a very easy target, the consequence being obvious .. in the end, I just give up charging and fall back playing for giggles - the faster it ends the better. The problem here, is when you are in a slow scenario ...

Yeh. sadly it happens tons with Pugs.
I blame the WoW AV standoffs/rushes for this.

You can spot the X-WoWers, they are the ones having an epileptic fit, wobbling about trying to get behind someone, grinding themselves against people and missing every second hit.

People should think themselves lucky there is so much free RP about :)

problem with killing the squichys in scenarios is, you try to get to them, a little dwarf stand there and punt you away so you fly 100 miles and land in lava and die

I heard the stun takes effect in the sense they cannot hurt you, however they are not stuck to the spot as per a traditional stun.

Well in my extensive lvl12 experience the easiest thing to kill 95% of the time is the overextended tanks.

personally i am doing scenario's with a group of 4 of us,

1 marauder, 1 blackorc, 1 shaman 1 witch elf.

tbh, we dont have any problems, apart from getting zerged! other than that, all squishy's die first and the only way the order can stop us is with that ironbreaker knockback :(

havnt played so much yet ... but the tier 1 scenario is so funny/frustating to play in. I dont know if the healers have forgotten their primary function or if they just like the nuke more but i have more than ones rushed in as swordmaster attacking support coming back with 10-15% hp standing jumping in front of 1-2healers untill a destruction caster thought i looked stupid and finished me.
ofc i still need to try some of the higher tiers and fights to get a better picture ... but i have seen a tendency to the tank attacking and ignoring the support :( but maybe killing them enough will teach em how to play ;)

i tend to snare a tank while running for the support, but untill now i have used the first fight to check if the healer know what he is doing ;). but running for the support as the only one is also pretty suicidal :(

teammates who stop to a halt infront of me while i almost have a snare on a fleeing caster seem to be common too ... or maybe i just have to practice emergency dodging.

Agree, and the weird thing is it's not only WoW players that fall for it, some guilds that have the reputation of belonging in the "top guilds ever" in DAoC fall for it alot (atleast on KEP) which does make you wonder..

I dont know what Daoc u lads have been playing but it SURE aint the same game that ive played.

We focused on killing their tanks 99% of the time, the 1% was then our 2 BL/interupt tank managed to drop something but that was just a bonus.

Slam/grapple/snare enemy tank debuff nuke team+tad out of range and profit.

I play more or less the same way in WAR, snare and dps to mDps such as marauders, WEs, squiqs who push or at times i can push with my grp and assist on their backline if ours is clear.

Also agree with greapers comment about ppl not pulling back, if u have all enemies on u, PLZ pull back and re-engage heals and interupts in WAR isnt strong enough to let u stay in there.

Big difference between jumping on a Witch hunter to a Iron breaker though, just like there was a difference in jumping on the Warrior instead of zerker etc in daoc ;p

This thread is refering to people jumping on tanks, not mdps, tanks with near 3k armor, 600+ toughness and a shield :(
