What I find amusing about this whole affair is the fact that 'mckerney' is taking this whole voting thing as seriously as he seems to be, whereas the rest of us are taking it with the pinch of salt it so rightly deserves.

It's a poll on a site most UK people have never heard of, so given the amount of votes BarrysWorld had before we even knew at BW HQ the site existed - I think we've 'won' already. Also, the fact that BarrysWorld is ranked quite a bit ahead of our 'rivals' (of which PCXL isn't one of them, because noone over here has ever heard of it) like BlueNews, Voodoo Extreme, sCarys, etc is a victory in itself.

So my good friend, by all means continue your little crusade for PCXL, I'm sure they'll appreciate your idolising them. I however will just sit back in the knowledge that BarrysWorld's success in this poll signifies something greater than <x> votes, it shows that it is a major force in the scene, something that - with all due respect - PCXL isn't.

pcxl is the only decent gaiming mag over here and im not here to condone or support my fellow american, just to give you the facts he left out. PC Accelerator is one of the best mags around. Not because of the babes and sick sense of humor. But because of the unswayed opinions. They hold nothing back and bash games that derserve it like all the hunting games and other crap like tomb raider 3. Just because these games have mainstreem apeal and a large backer doesnt mean that they should have to kiss thier ass. so pcxl.xom is a crappy website but Pc Accelerator is a great magazine

Erm I have no intrest in what scuba diving team you support (or whatever you were just jabbering about). This is a UK messageboard. Round here 'Yank' or 'Yankee' are slang words we use to identify citizens of the United States of America.

Common usage would be in phrases like "Damn Yank!", "Well what do you expect, she's a Yank." or "FUCK OFF YOU DUMB YANK!"

Enough already. Yes, it's a poll. No, we're not taking it seriously. yes, 'Yank' is a short-hand way of saying 'American', it has nothing to do wit the term 'Yankee', it's essentially the same as saying 'Pom' and meaning someone from the UK.

PC Accelerator may well be the best games magazine around in the US - I don't know. What I thought would have been brutally obvious from the tone taken in the posts (on the news page) about the poll on 3D Gaming Net was that we didn't take it seriously. We're in this for fun, and the extreme number of links we put in to the 3D Gaming Net poll should have shown that we didn't really take it seriously. As for any rivalry between BarrysWorld and PCXL? it's all in your mind. PCXL are a games magazine - a commercial entity. BarrysWorld is run by volunteers.

Oh, and it is BarrysWorld (one word) by the way - ar at least that's what it says on the official documents.

I really do think you've missed the point entirely.
