PC Won't Start!

Hi all

I'm having a frustrating problem with my PC - when I turn it on, it just beeps at me. Beeps are 1-2 seconds long with a pause of the same length inbetween. And that's all it does.

90% of the time it works fine. Then it does this and I just fiddle with random parts until it works again. It hasn't done it for a couple of weeks this time but now I can't seem to put it right.

Does anyone know what could be up? The hard drive was recently reformatted and is apparently free of errors.

The motherboard is - I think - an Abit VH6...

Please help!

hmm. go to your mobo's maker's site and search for bios error beeps. that gives you what's wrong. an educated guess? take your gfx card out, re-seat it carefully. a good idea could also be re-plugging every cable you can see.

Mine did that when the GFX card didn't initialise properly, which happened rather regularly :(

After some investigation and card swapping it turned out to be a problem with the cheapo GFX card not working properly with my 1.5V only AGP4x.

Mine is an ABit Mobo as well (BD7-II).
