PC to TV

I would like to link my PC to the TV remotely so that I can browse a folder on the PC to watch films.

I would also like to stream web content onto the TV. The plan is to watch a football match via a web stream (I can happily press Play on the PC), then stream the video/flash onto the TV.

I've never touched Linux or XBMC (sp?), Raspberry pi or NAS (just throwing random words out now) so as you can tell, I'm a noob on this subject :(

That WD Live thing (search this forum) might be best for you mate if you don't want to get into the guts of doing it all yourself.

Thanks :) looking at WD live and dune at the moment.

Do these devices have the capability to browse to a URL and then let me select a football stream I want to play? This would negate playing it on the pc and then streaming it to the tv via the device.

Don't know mate, personally I've got a RasPi running XBMC which can run addins to do that kinda stuff. Bump the other thread and I'm sure someone will have an answer for ya :)

What XBMC "distro" are you using? I've tried a couple but they're a bit slow

no they just allow streaming of media that is on your pc .. you need to connect the pc .. or equiv to your tv in order to get a web browser that will stream the footy or whatever you need

WD live doesnt have a web browser.

it has certain apps .. like you can get netflicks from devices but not like a web browser in it .. you would have to stream it to your pc record it and then play the recording

wireless for streaming is a bit pants too tbh..
