A few Q's to people on here

1- I see alot of Huge Hd's, But why use a big Hd for Os ?
To me a small 36gb or 74gb 10k raptor makes much more sence for fast laoding times.
and then have 2 large storage HD's often devided into media HD and Game HD

2- I see alot of specs where people run a ddr3 mb, ddr3 gfx, and yet only ddr2 ram ?
why ? sure it's abit cheeper but it's not that much anymore tbh, and i for one like the idea of keeping my comp on the same "type" and as best posible same manufacture where possible F.eks Asus mb/Asus Gfx, WD&WD Hd's ect and so forth.

i have the OS and apps on a single drive with the temp drive (page file in this drive) at the start of the disc
My applications take up 120 Gb on their own ><, 12 gig for vista, 50 gig temp
a couple of raptors simply arent enough

performance gain doesnt really justify the price

Standard XP does yes but if you upgrade to XP64 it has no problem with it, though tbh i wouldn't bother with 4 gig at the moment, its not as if you need it. I originally had 2 gig but saw my memory was on special offer one week so snapped up another pair of 1gig sticks.

Heh true :p I only play Team Fortress 2 atm really... and the odd mess around on my paladin on WoW.

I have a question for the overclockers i can run crysis without any problems with zero overclocking. Just wondering why you would run your machine so hard 24 / 7 when theres no real need?

Framerates at higher resolutions mainly.

What volts did you need for 4ghz?

About 1.41 in the BIOS iirc, but CPU-Z shows 1.376 if that helps. Had to play around with it until prime95 was stable tho.

E6600 at 3.6ghz, 4gb ram, ATI 3870 and two 500gb 7200.11 's.

Not at very high settings with high resolution you cant. No PC for sale at the moment can (and that includes tri SLI wolfdale setups).

The question should be why shouldnt you overclock? A sensible overclock does not reduce stability or the life of the chip. Its getting extra performance for free. Why wouldnt you take something for nothing? My games load faster and run smoother than they do at stock speeds.

I suppose im just stuck thinking overclocking is still a black art i will look into a new CPU fan and give overclocking a go. But im fairly sure my machine is set on very high my screen is only a 20inch though.

well the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 HDs are fast as hell, as fast as raptor but not near as noisey :) plus i got mine for like half the price with double the space than if i went for a raptor setup.

mine isnt OC'd atm but i might do it ina month or so but ill need to back up stuff on an external drive and then wipe my machine clean then OC and put my movies n stuff back on. . . . . .EFFORT! :( :drink:
