Well lets face it, it cant get much friggin worse can it

Although to be fair to the old girl, she's handled everything I've thrown at her and I can still play most of the games I've got on the go atm without it struggling (Pirates of the Burning Sea for instance). Although obviously not with everything maxed out.

Problem for me tbh, is ive got plenty of other things to spend money on atm and I also spend all day in the week fixing/rebuilding pc's and I truly cant be arsed with buying components and spending the weekend doing the same thing so at some stage in the near future I am probably just going to buy something "off the shelf"

running my laptop at uni;

1.8ghz intel centrino (runs at the equivalent of 3ghz or something)
radeon 9600
1 gig of ram

- getting on a bit now but it does all i need perfectly still, runs tf2 in 1280x800 with everything on except bloom/hud without any slowdown whatsoever,
also runs Stalker in 1280x800 with everything up high except grass which seems to fuck it over a bit, without any slowdown.
very happy with this purchase from novatech, but as i said its getting on a bit now would definately purchase from them again.

I keep wanting to get 4gb but didn't XP have some problem with 4gb? and also some pretty nice pc's in this thread mot of which cripple mine heh, my 6000+ only clocks at 3.0ghz not really a fan of overclocking or god knows what I could crank it upto.

I've got no 10000rpm beasts like you either undying I should do really tho, heard they were worth the money.

Heh yea xp pro junkie here aswell my keyboard is/was apart of my logitech mouse/keys set I don't use the mouse tho, I only use the keyboard+logitech G5 (been tempted to get a Razer/phantom recently tho)

Standard XP does yes but if you upgrade to XP64 it has no problem with it, though tbh i wouldn't bother with 4 gig at the moment, its not as if you need it. I originally had 2 gig but saw my memory was on special offer one week so snapped up another pair of 1gig sticks.

more specifically, any 32 bit OS (not just xp) can only see up to 4gb TOTAL memory, that includes video, cpu cache and everything. so the more you have of all the other memory areas, the less system memory you'll see.
