Hey guys.. want to search every1s brains for some ideas on what the hell is killing my machine..

i can be using it for 1 hour normal.. and it will just reboot.... poof.. then reboot and start windows again.

BUT

the rebooting happens more wen playing. i was told this is a cooling issue.. so off came the case and window opend.. but i noticed with just the case off im running at 35 degress celcius cpu temp and it still reboots..

then i tried to see if its the gfx card.. but to no avail.. still reboots even if im pushing card to limit.. or its sitting dormant for 30mins.

any ideas to stop me smashing it to pieces??

cheers,

ademaa

Had the same isue and i managed to fix it.

I moded my case a litle no big thing but it works.

If you look at the rear of your case you see the cooler. if you look closely at it you will finde 50% of the fan is free and 50% is covered by metal. Now the metal keeps 50% of the airflow inside and couse overheating.

What i did is took a metal scisors and cut away the metal. is you dont have this tool you have to screw open your case and at the back remove the screws of the power suply. pull out the cables of the suply and get it out the case.
Next you have to screw open the power suply and screw off the fan. make sure you remember how the fan is mounted so that you not turn it or it will suck air in instead of blow out. next get a metal saw blade and carefully saw awaw the metal so you get a round hole. hold the power suply so that the metal dont fall on the electronics allso make sure you dont hit the electronics with the saw blade aswell. screw everything together again and you're done.

I allso cutted out the part thats pre pounched and mounted anoter fan there.
My case now feels frech, before the mod the top of my case was pretty hot.

Hope this helps greetings,

If you don't think its an overheating issue it could be some kind of software problem, corrupt drivers etc, try the solutions below.

Stop your pc from automatically rebooting

i) Press windows key + pause break to bring up system properties
ii) Left click the advanced tab
iii) Left click the settings button under startup and recovery
iv) unticky automatically restart, click ok, apply, ok etc to save changes

See if you get a blue screen with error messages etc next time it goes wrong, or does it still reboot?

You can also try

i) Go into control panel
ii) Go into adminstrative tools (or performance and maintenance then adminstrative tools)
iii ) open event viewer, and check the application and system tabs and see if you see any warning or error messages (yellow and red icons)

Good luck

Try reinstalling your graphics drivers. WHenever you do this, remember to first uninstall them (through add/remove programmes in the control panel) then run a driver cleaner programme (found here - freeware), then re-install your graphics drivers. Its also worth using Omega drivers if you haven't already tried them as they can increase performance, and are generally less buggy than nVidia, and especially ATI drivers.

Omega drivers can be found here and I'd recommend them highly.

Hope this helps :) If not, then its probably overheating, but at 35degrees that seems highly unlikely. If you're still having problems after reinstalling the gfx drivers, make sure your memory is OK, by running Memtest :)

Personally I've found Omega drivers much better than the ATI ones, but not as good as the Nvidia ones ('good' in this case meaning graphics lag less in Camelot. ATI using Radeon 9600 Pro, Nvidia using GeForce 4600Ti).
