PC problems

ello all having trouble with my second pc when i turn it on it starts 2 load up then when its gets 2 loading windows xp up the screen turn it self off, but i can run it in safe mode fine any1 know why this happens?

Boot in safe mode and make a note of the last file loaded before failure, google it and pray its not mup.sys

Bottom line is i don't know how to fix it, i just know it's causing people major headaches and no one knows why.


Really u need to google it if it is failing on mup.sys (it could be something to do with MS genuine advanatge tool if u have just installed that btw auto update etc?)


Tbh I would go for a reintsall (over the top if u want to keep data as opposed to formatting etc) but be warned some people says this doesn't always work so if u can reinstall and have backed up your data I would do that. I have never seen so many problems reported with a file and no one seems to have a definitive solution on how to get past the problem with booting hanging on mup.sys. There are like a million solutions out there from flashing the bios to unplugging USB devices to swapping out ram. If u have done anything to your pc prior to it failing try to undo the changes.

Simply google mup.sys and read thru some threads and see if any of the posters talk about something that ring any bells.

I have a pc on my desk failing on mup.sys ot belongs to a staff member so isn't on my priority list (unlike posting here if i figure something out i will let u know but tbh i think i will just backup the data and rebuild it cos i cba trying ALL the fixes I have seen posted.

Boot your XP in safe mode and in the config screen go into system and find device manager. Disable your hardware 1 by 1 untill it boots up normal. The hardware you disabled the last will be the one who give troubles. Uninstall the drivers of this hardware and download the latest drivers of the vendor. if that still not work you could replace the part (videocard most common) with the oe of you other pc, if it works then it will coast you euro's.

I just can't resist... I'm no spelling freak or whatever, I mean, everybody can make mistakes, but this is just awful.

sorry im always in a rush either i have a job and a 7month old baby plus i have never be able 2 spell that why i use short hand and the reason im a bricklayer and not some PC genuis =P im not a bad person just cant spell n dnt have alot of time 2 spare =( sorry

well mate, it really doesn't take any more time to write words properly because most of the time used for this writing is spent with thinking about what to write.
Also, sure, everyone makes spellingmistakes. One more than the other and that's all cool. But saying "wot" isn't a spelling mistake. Neither is substituting "are" with "r", and "and" with "n" or "don't" with "dnt". You don't have to be a genius to write those 4-letter words out fully, and noone said you were a bad person. Just a damn lazy one typing-wise.

[edit] and for the love of god... please start using those three buttons to the lower right of your keyboard... (on a QWERTY layout that is...)

You will have to test it to be sure, try running the card with whatever drivers xp installs by default, if that goes well then try upgrading the drivers.
