To cut a long story short no, this has nothing to do with Christmas. My lovely Shuttle decided to die today and took my main hard drive with it (150GB Raptor)

To replace the broken components would be around £400 so not worth it.

Here's what I have in mind:

  • Case: Coolermaster Sileo 500 Silent
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 920 D0 (4 x 2.66GHz)
  • Motherboard: Asus P6T SE (Intel X58)
  • Memory: Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) XMS3 1600MHz
  • Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5770 - 1 GB - 2xDVI/VGA/HDMI (Asus)
  • PSU: OCZ 600W Stealth XStream - Low Noise
  • Primary HDD: WD SATA-II VelociRaptor 150GB UDMA 300 10000RPM 16MB
With all the other bits it totals £964.51

Any possible conflicts? Anything that could be improved by adding a little extra?

Looks fine. Shame the price of SSD's hasn't dropped more though, else you could get one of those.

Graphics, why Asus - I would go with the Vapor-X edition from Sapphire.

dude, two things:

first: I have that cpu and it is awesome. overclocks sweetly if you're into such things.
second: I have the normal version of that mobo and it was an absolute BITCH to install on. I RMA's one and more or less stuck with number two after getting a working install. the ones I ended up with were very picky about in what sata slot you stick your drives (when installing doze). I have four drives in raid, so go figure. Anyway, it's a driver thing, but nothing I could do about it.

Tis good stuff, decent warranties etc. And their aftersales is quite good too.
