rightyo, i've run out of ideas in regards of what i can do to revive my late PC.

it's a 3500+, a8v deluxe, 1gb pc3200 ram, geforce 7600gt, blah blah.

awhile back it stopped booting. power works, single POST beep and all fans are working correctly but there's no signal to the monitor. i've tried using two AGP cards and neither work, so i thought it might be the AGP slot.

despite this, i rebuilt it from scratch a few weeks ago and it suddenly started working again - it was fine for a few days and then went tits up again. since then i've tried another AGP card to no avail, reseated everything and no luck.

is there anything i've missed? if it's the AGP slot, then replacing the mobo isn't really worthwhile as it's time i upgraded properly anyway. this is what i've got in mind...

i'll probably spend an extra tenner and go for the slighty better e6750.

It really is worth spending a few more quid and getting a quad core. The Graphics card is identical to mine and its great value for money, very happy with it. You wont get anything these days in AGP thats even close to enough for gaming.

I'll have to agree with Raven certainly, the q6600 is fantastic value for money - we're absolutely spoiled at the moment with q6600s (shit off a shovel at stock speeds but overclock very nicely without batting an eyelid!), 8800GT (enough said, fantastic cards, huge bang for the buck!).

Nothing missing, catered for everything, the motherboard is also a good choice - gigabyte have had some deserved bad press in the past but their newer range for the core2 hardware is unbeatable in it's pricerange.
The only thing I might look at tweaking is the hard drive - for the same money I've seen 32mb cache Seagate 500gb drives around, but I can't remember if that was just an ebuyer special offer - certainly have a look anyway.
