My understanding, from what happen to somone else on these forums, is that you do have to enter a method of payment when you signup.

i was going to go buy this game today and all...
guess ill have to play something else

There is another method of payment called Swift but you have to go to the bank and make a transfere but your account isn't acctivated for 3 or 4 days afterthe payment :/ It also costs more to pay by swift.
