Ah, congratulations. I was thinking of joining the police as well. So this "initial recruitment" thing, are there a series of physical and intelligence tests (watching "Cops", they obviously lack any form of int).

Well I have only sat the Special PIR but its a series of multiple choice questions to test numerical and reasoning skills. The regular one has spelling and some other bits too.

The next phase is a interview where you have to give examples of displays of the core comeptencies, like respect for race/religion, diversity, teamwork, decision making and so on. Then on to vetting (i.e have you or anyone related to you commited any offences) and finally a medical which consists of (or so I am told) body weight/bmi/height/blood pressure/lung capacity (I'm a smoker ooerr..) and pissing in a cup to test for substance abuse.

All going to plan I should start training in Febs and then be attested (sworn in) around april/may.
