Did anyone watch this last night. Found it to be quite biased and the UKIE guy was bang on saying that the parents should be more involved with their kids hobbies. It also showed the Koreans, but its like football or rugby over there. People in the UK don't understand this and the program did not reflect this. This show needed way more than 30mins and should have shown alot more. Most of the English kids who had problems were people with underlying problems anyway, but yet again gaming is blamed because it is new and frightening to the masses.

it was a scare based program that took 4 cases or so of extreme behavior and used them to say hey look your kids gonna go mental

The longest case they featured was the little baby that died and they said the parents werent right in the head before they started gaming. So that just shows they have crap social services.

Its another of these oh look you gonna turn into a zombie if you play games programs .. with only about one of the interviewed ppl saying anything like its rare and most ppl are fine with them

Moriath, I'm not being personal to you or anything, but considering you're saying that with this as your sig; Ex DAoC, AoC, EQ2, SWG, WoW, War...

Of course you're not gonna have a negative point of view of gaming - but let's face it, it's true - if games weren't in our lives, god, we'd HAVE to socialise, fancy that!

Alright, - maybe some of you will reply, yes, I have a social life etc etc, but how many chances could of you gone out to a pub with your nights, but haven't?

It's only getting worse with my generation of kids, I'm partially addicted, I'd admit it, no, I wouldn't go smashing stuff up if gaming was taken away from me at all, it'd actually be useful - but I have mates who don't have consoles - I know, shock horror! and they spend shed loads of time complaining they're bored, I don't know about you, but i'd rather have fun playing a game in my spare time, than being bored :\

+ the guy they interviewed and said only a minority get addicted to gaming - that was the guy who works for a company that represents electronic entertainment in the UK... soo

+ Also, saying that the kids should have more intervention from their Parents, How can you do that when your Parent games, and then the Country has quicker internet as the report said, and then people will start working more at home - and besides, it's like watching a film that you're not supposed to under-age etc, - you'll watch it at your mates house, not yours, and eventually get addicted to it without your parents knowing

The part that annoyed me was the mother whose son was 'addicted' to WoW and stopped going to school.

I'm sorry but 'parenting fail' comes to mind. You're the parent, you're the one in charge, don't put up with tantrums, violence, put your fucking foot down, and give him a slap on the ass.

And really, 'our only option is to cancel the internet'. Stupid cow, just stop paying for his subscription, make him get a fucking saturday job to pay for it, then he can use what's left over to go buy a bottle of diamond white and get pissed down the park.

When I was growing up (admittedly it was in the days of Speccy 48k, Sega Master system etc) my parents made me 'earn' my gaming time. Doing my homework before tea got me an hour game time. Washing the old mans car got me either a fiver or 2 hours game time. Keeping my room tidy got me an hour a week and so forth.

Also, what the fuck are parents doing letting thier kids have PCs in thier bedrooms in the first place? The PC should be in the living room where the parents can keep an eye on the kids from pr0n, pedos, chat rooms and so forth in the first place. I'll bet there's no security on the PC (and I mean child protection (web site blockers keyword blockers etc), rather than firewalls).

It's just plain old ignorance. People are stupid and we live in a society where no-one will live with thier own actions. It's ALWAYS someone else fault, never the parents, never the kids. It's the government, movie makers, game makers, whatever. Take some fucking responsability and shut the fuck up you cnuts.

/rant over.

true i have played a lot of them but i havent played an mmo for over 6 months now just because i started to find them boring really

And I find it very difficult to socialise because I have Aspergers and going to pubs or clubs is sensory overload for me.

So in that way MMO's were my social outlet on my own terms.

OFC i am going to be bias just like i think the program was in the other extreme ..

I still think its a small small minority that have any issues and generally they are mentally unstable to begin with
