Paladin PVE template

As of next patch, artifacts can be repaired, so they're now usable in PvE templates as well. Knowing this, I started doodling around and fiddled together the following.

Downside is the low quickness and it's not using the hits to the maximum amount. However, it does have 10% combat speed and 10% blocking bonus.

Any thoughts?

just have to tell u even though artis are reparable and dont loose dur they cos ALOT to repair trust me can be a couple of p just for some % :)

I think it's the best pve template I've seen so far :eek:

however I'm not sure how to do it, but 400 hits extra is awesome!

because in PvE you need +hits right? not really.

A PvE template needs to be able to Soak damage (IE +shield +parry +block% +Defence% +parry% +dex cap) and also maintain mob agro (+str +Quickness +melee speed% +melee damage% +Style damage%


+Hits and +con will only give you more hps, not like that matters if your grouped with a Half compitant cleric right

Reason I skipped out on +parry% was because I was more interested in getting block up as high as possible for blockreactionaries and stuff. But if con and hits doesn't matter so much, I'll pay less attention to that, and more attention to the other stuff then.. :) Back to the drawing board!

Still nice to have a good ammount of both, just Capping 400 hps isn't really needed for a PvE template unless you plan on soloing alot without a bot

Didn't you say that you had a 26 dex 26 con 400 hits, capped melee and heat res, all skills and 10% parry and block? ;)

Yeah, he thought he had, but he checked it up for me a while ago and it turns out he was wrong. Otherwise, I wouldn't be going through this templating work and instead would have used his. ;)

I'd remove a couple of those items in there that has qui and hp cap on them, as you don't cap that in your template, but imo, for PvE a template should have 70+ qui and 300+ hps.

Also, i don't agree fully with what Bubble said, as really, a pally don't use strength to contain aggro, he uses heal chant and protect, and with close to 100 qui you can spam taunt style at him for even more. Taunt style combined with heal chant >>>>>>> str. There is no way you will outdamage anything else anyway :)

WS = Effects chance to hit mob as well as Damage.

Hitting mob with Taunt style = Gaining agro

WS = Chance to get past Block/Parry/Evade - which you can't do by going behind the Mob if you've got aggro!

Personally, in most cases I don't find it hard to keep aggro with a Pally unless people are spamming really high damage stuff, in which case hopefully they quickly swap to detaunt !

So though extra damage is nice, I'd see %block, %parry, +shield, +parry, dex . melee resists as being top priorities.

Pally soloing high level stuff depends more on whether your healing chant is greater than the mobs damage to you than your total hits. In groups you'll have a healer.

For any pala template who's supposed to live for ages i would want SoM, GoV, Malice and ML7 heal proc shield (Sinovia's is nice to :)). SoM as #1 priority, as it takes away so much damage its unbelievable :) AF proc on GoV is very nice, if Malice procs you do alot more damage and enemy does alot less, heal proc anything is just <3<3<3 (ML10 pala BP v nice /w group heal proc). Atleast try to keep SoM in there.

And yes, you get higher WS by raising str, but 25 qui >>>> 25 str imo for PvE'ing and tanking, as you can spam more styles, and in the end you will hit more than you will with higher WS. (Ofc dependant on what class you have and how close you already are to qui cap (250) with starting stats.)

SoM and GoV are nice for PVE, but to use them in PVE is just a bit stupid cause they can't be repaired (con). In the next patch yes, but it will cost so much you wanna cry irl when you repair them :D

Also, malice proc doesn't affect things much in PVE and ml7 healproc shield doesn't proc in PVE either :(

The top priorities for my pve temp are capped stats, capped skills, capped melee resist, capped heat and body (body for stuns and such alike). Also 10% block/parry alongside with 26dex cap. +xxxhp cap and concap is nice there too. Also +AF wouldn't hurt.

+af has increased my af with rvr set since I made it so I don't know what kind of evil +af items you have :D

Maybe I have to re-check >_< It did work when I played atleast.

Recent testing showed that xtra toa af doesn't do shat, it shows increased af in the char sheet yea. But it doesn't do crap all.

This has always made me wonder..
What exactly does AF do? And Absorb?
Does AF help as in lower the enemies chance to actually hit you, and Absorb absorbs a % of damage?

Yes. Aslong as it's not bugged :)

And SoulFly are you sure heal proc doesn't work in PvE? Cause i seem to remember it did from DR's and AC pbaoe groups... Have they changed anything? As for malice, i see the gfx from a proc, but i can't say i've done any testing to see if it works.

If it's so expencive, maybe i would remove GoV, but i still would keep SoM in there, as it removes a very large amount of damage.

On shield procs, ones that proc when slamming work in PvE and RvR (And I think ML7 shield is one of these). Ones that proc when blocking only work in RvR (ML9 shield is one of these).

ml7 shield is a reactive proc so it procs only when you block, which doesn't work in pve :O

AF lowers the damage you receive from melee. It doesn't affect chance to hit afaik.

Malice proc does affect mobs, but the effect is not that noticable :eek:

I might be old and rusty but afaik +AF does make you get hit less, ofcourse, this has to be a large ammount to be noticable, i mean a few +AF will be like 0,01% but that isn't something you'll see with teh naked eye ^^
