How do you go about packing all your earthly posessions for a move?

I'm in the middle of it, but not really gotten into it yet. Blasted Doctor keeps interrupting me.

In any case, what's your packing style? Not for a holiday, but complete removal of premises.

Do you just fiddle about and things get packed on their own time, or do you say "Right!" and pack everything with *german voice* Ze military prezizion!

What Raven said. Turn the cell phone off. Disconnect land line. Start early and don't stop till its done. THEN go down the pub to celebrate all your hard effort.

Always been a rushed job, throwing everything into boxes with only a general concern of types of objects being put together; usually got done in a couple of hours maximum but then again, I'm guessing you have a few more possessions then me anyway :) All I ever had to tend to was a bedroom, kitchen and odd bits around a student house. That said, I've still not broken a single object, even when the whole lot, glasses etc etc are all just bundled in together without packing :D

The down side is when you get to where you're trying to unpack it all to. Absolute nightmare...

The big shizzle gets dealt with easily because its big and obvious.

The little shizzle takes *ages*. Get ready to spend lots of time putting stuff into bags and boxes you thought would take minutes and suddenly an afternoon has gone.

I prefer to bag 'n' box as much as I can in focused period of time well ahead of the move simply because there's always always always more than you think.

Luckily this is probably what will happen, due to having two boxes and one bag to fill(approx).

Trying to "nomad" my stuff fas much as possible, so most time will come out of "need or not" separation :D

I hate hate hate packing so much. Probably something to do with all the crap I keep. Like, when I bought my new Graphics Card, I kept the box because it looked cool. Same with my watch. Im never going to need them again. I'm weird :(

I like it, but I always feel like im out of time :(

In fact ive gotta move in two weeks time from one country to another, with furniture and all this shit. Im moving from Prague back to Aarhus DK, but I have to pick up a station wagon in Dresden, drive it to Prague, drive to Aarhus, unpack, sleep like 4H and drive it to Flensburg. Fucking shit, but very cheap actually.

This time Im packing over the course of a couple of days, taking it easy. No stress before the long ride please!

I have moved 3 times and i make a pile of stuff i need for the day of the move put that separately then get some black sacks and boxes turn on some music and blitz the place. I tend to throw away a lot of crap when i move hence the black sacks.

Pay someone to do it professionally with all the correct insurances. That way you get to claim 2.5 grand when they fook 3 Keff speakers up, ripping the cones on 3 out out of 4.

Actually quite amazing to watch the contents of a 4 bedroom house get packed into a 35ft sea container.

Just get a really really big bag, cover it over the front of your house, get a really really strong man to come lift the back of your house, and hey presto.
