Packet Loss

Okay, complete computer n00by here, so get your laughter in straight away.... Right thats done with then :)

Am suffering huge packet loss when I *try* to play on the Prydwen server. Monsters, people, NPC's all winking into and out of existence.

/sends and group chat work fine, but game play is impossible.

Danyan recommended that I get Ping Plotter. Running that now to 193.252.123.13 am getting seriously crap results. The first 14 hops on the report all give 100% packet loss.

How on earth is that possible? If anyone can give me advice on getting to the reason for this problem I shall be in your eternal debt.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hmm that sounds broken...

Does pingplotter work if you try other addresses? forums.barrysworld.com might be a good place to start :)

Woha. Either your entire connection is borked (read ISP issue), or there are some serious routing problems between you and Prydwen at present. That ALL the jumps show a 100% loss though seems to indicate that it's ISP based, however.

Are you experiencing problems outside DAoC? :)

<extremely red faced at this end>

Ahem, turned out to be a super duper anti virus I purchased at the weekend. It came with a firewall (didn't know what one of those was at the time :) ) that had to be turned off separately to the anti virus software.

So ... problem solved at least. Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated!
