aye, thats why you should disconnect and reconnect, goes to a different server. RIAA appear to have been rather succesful on kazaa concerning the audio files, so I use it as a last resort nowadays, particularly if its a popular song.

If you're happy to leave your PC on constantly, eMule isn't bad. Use KazaaLite for all the little things (mp3s etc) though.

I also use this. I don't think they have a site anymore or anything, do they? I was starting to think I was the only one still using this, although it doesn't matter with gnutella.

I got what I needed using Kazaa Lite, mp3's for "evaluation" purposes.
I'm assuming the other p2p stuff mentioned might be used for game "demos"?

Yep, that's what I use it for. And lots of other freeware, of course.

I just use Soulseek to find the names of albums I'd forgotten existed. Its interesting to see what other people have on their computers, not that I'd ever try and download them.

What server do you use, and what's the completeness/retention like?

I'm on Astraweb which is ok for completeness but pretty lame for retention. $15 a month though, which isn't bad.

I use these guys primarily because they accept switch ( www.eurofeeds.com) .Pretty expensive but insanely high retention and completion.

Put it this way, when a post is made and people start moaning about missing files you get reposts. And then people moaning about missing files in reposts. With eurofeeds i always see all those posts from all the posts so with each release of 'whatever' i have 4 or so sets of files to pick from. Retention is around 10 days too, sometimes more.

Only problem is they dont have an unlimited option but i guess this dictates the quality of the service from them in the first place. Pay em £5 for your first 10 gig, see what you think :)

i use Claranews and have been doing so for almost 12months now. Their retention on the whole is pretty good the best/most retention I have seen is 10 days and the least amount of retention I have experienced is 3-4 days, it seems to vary on some groups rather than others. They also accept all cards except Solo.
